I would have gone with Smith over Chapman with a runner on second, but I have absolutely no faith in Smith being able to close out a game. Zero.

Opportunities lost today with 3rd base runners. Bats were ok, but didn't want to push runners across home.

Webb was really good. Dunning was really good. One team had to lose, and Will Smith made sure it was the Rangers.

If postseason is in the cards, do not have confidence bringing Smith in to close.

True that the bats were the real reason we lost, but when you throw 90 mph, you can't miss your spot by much, and when you have a breaker like Smith does, you sit on the breaker and just react to the fastball because it extremely hittable.

Not down enough.

That pitch was a friggin meatball over the plate. We've seen it many times from Smith.

The ball was definitely in off the plate about two inches and in the lower third, but again when you throw 91 sometimes it doesn't matter where you put it, it'll get smoked.

Taveras is struggling

Manager Bruce Bochy gave right fielder Adolis Garca a day off his feet Sunday as the DH. But it is center fielder Leody Taveras who could really use a bit of time to clear his head. Taveras was 0 for 4 Sunday and went 2 for 23 on the road trip. He failed in three attempts with runners in scoring position, making him 1 for 13 in those situations this month. Taveras has seen his batting average fall from .306 on the morning of July 4 to .263 after Sunday.

Agree but would imagine Jank would play CF. After what JPM did today, I don't want to see him out of the line up at all until proven otherwise.
