Man I was really excited about Acuna and his potential. But I guess you can't really argue with a trade involving a proven stud in a position of need for just one prospect.

How about we do this…..
Beat Yu Darvish and Padres tonight, trade for Snell and Hader, win tomorrow and hop on a plane back to Texas with those two and a 2 game winning streak?
Sounds TOO good.

Cut that $44M in half…how long will his stay be in Texas?
Mets are paying for our Swimming Pool. Lazy river, perhaps?!Water Boy said:
Wait I just read where WE got the money. In that case good deal!
I believe that Player Option was the sticky part. The Rangers wanted assurances that he'd not opt-out since they were giving up Acuna. When Scherzer declined, I think the Mets and Rangers had to decide from there. Lower level prospect? Money? Looks like money.PatriotAg02 said:Silvertaps said:

Last I saw he had an option for 24 unless that's changed in the deal
Max Scherzer exercised his player option for the 2024 season and will be a Texas Ranger through the end of his contract, sources tell ESPN.

This team is in a bad spot right now. The Heim / Seager injuries kill the line up and Eovaldi being pushed again is a huge concern. We don't have any reliable SPs right now.
With that said we need to still get Montgomery and Hicks from the Cards.
