Man I was really excited about Acuna and his potential. But I guess you can't really argue with a trade involving a proven stud in a position of need for just one prospect.

Money could be a big issue but I'm guessing the management has some plan in place to overcome this. Will be interesting to see what internal moves are made to free up the money.

It feels good to see the front office being aggressive. This team may likely not win it all THIS year but you can't deny the competitive nature of CY. This guy wants to win and is willing to put it out on the line at a chance for major success. The future is bright!

I really like this deal. It gives us a proven vet to go with Eovaldi and we only gave up a single prospect. Scherzer also gives us cover until deGrom comes back.
I believe that Player Option was the sticky part. The Rangers wanted assurances that he'd not opt-out since they were giving up Acuna. When Scherzer declined, I think the Mets and Rangers had to decide from there. Lower level prospect? Money? Looks like money.PatriotAg02 said:Silvertaps said:

This team is in a bad spot right now. The Heim / Seager injuries kill the line up and Eovaldi being pushed again is a huge concern. We don't have any reliable SPs right now.
With that said we need to still get Montgomery and Hicks from the Cards.

Maybe you haven't heard, but we just acquired a guy that has quite the track record for being reliable.
Hopefully Scherzer comes over and shoves. I told you guys this rotation outside of Eovaldi was a pumpkin.
