Reality is Acuna is blocked by 2 superstars + Duran. Hurts to give up, but hurts a lot less as long as you make it count. Hopefully this financial aspect is him agreeing not to opt out while NYM picks up a chunk of 2024 too. That's what I'd want for Acuna

Most of the UNT dorks on LSB hate this trade, so I reflexively love it. Those guys must beat off to prospect scouting reports at night.

Go to know... lol. I mostly hang out here for Ranger talk, so I'll avoid that place.

I hope he shuts this down. I don't want to give up a prospect like Acuna for a very expensive 39 year old with a 4+ era

Options are starting to dwindle if SD isn't selling ....

Would much rather prefer a Montgomery/ Hicks package

We're supposedly still in on Stroman.

Probably wants an extension. Evan is saying we want to make sure he opts in for 2024. He's obviously going to use that for either an additional player option for '25 on a reworked contract

Would much rather use Foscue and Saggessee on trades. Acuna is one of my untouchables.

Where is he going to play. Infield is blocked at the Big League Level

He's been playing CF lately as well. He can play all over. I think he can absolutely be a future star.

I know we have a lot of middle infield guys but Acuna and Walcott were my two to keep.
He has played a total of 4G in OF, this season.

Stroman has given up 21 runs in his last 5 starts (23.2 IP). Wouldn't be excited about that unless we got him for a bag of chips.

He would be a nice bullpen/insurance starter.

Wasn't too thrilled when I heard Scherzer was the pick that's just a big question mark between his age and money

I don't feel anything about what anyone posts on here. You did a masterful job of it, man up and own it.

I want to mention this one time to clarify some things since no one in here knows me personally. I do ask a lot of questions on here as far as the behind the scenes management goes since I have little knowledge on the subject. When I make comments or ask questions, I ask them as a student wanting to be educated. I don't make comments on here to prove people wrong or argue with anyone. I get that it may be hard to understand where I'm coming from in this new internet age where trolls or people always want to be right or prove people wrong. That is not me. All my comments are pure and genuine questions. So in the future if anyone misunderstands my posts then that's just on you. Sorry that it may be hard to read the intent of posts on a computer screen but I'm not here to argue or put down any of my fellow Aggies.

I asked in the past if it was possible to go over the tax in our situation and all the answers I got was no. Now it appears that is not the case. I am just genuinely curious and want an explanation so I can learn. If you have a problem with me just don't respond or block me.

And he's 21 years old.

They're playing him there to increase his versatility. If he can play there, then he can play left as well.

Semien is 32. Seager likely could be at 1B in a couple of years. I just like the idea of keeping Acuna instead of giving him away for a 39 year old with a 4+ ERA like someone said earlier.

That's my thing.. I love Seags, but he's not a gold glove at short and he's not going to be getting any better going forward. I think he'll need to make a move within the next three years.

Here's an article that explains how it works.

It's not a perfect analogy, but here's an attempt at illustrating why teams don't like to go over the luxury tax (exceptions being the NY teams and the Dodgers, who are made of money & give zero sh*ts).

So imagine you buy a house in a really nice gated community, and you decide to put an expensive pool in your backyard. It'll cramp your budget a bit, but you really want that pool, so you go for it. You buy the pool, have it installed, etc. and you're a happy camper....until someone from the HOA shows up and says "hey, beautiful pool, but it's really not fair that you have one and all your neighbors don't, so we're going to need you to help the other 20+ homeowners in the community pay for a pool so they can have one too." So you have to pay 15, 20, 25% or more of the purchase price of your pool to the HOA to spread around to the other homeowners.

I don't know about you, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to help buy somebody else's swimming pool. I think that's the mentality of ownership when it comes to paying the luxury tax.

So Scherzer keeps his option for 24?
