The Angles are playing the NL West leading Dbacks. Granted, they are playing in Anaheim but they don't have a cakewalk either.

I knew someone would comment on my spelling. It was intentional as I can't tell you how many times I've seen people misspell "Angel" so I call them the "Angles". It's an inside joke in my house. Even my 13 y/o calls them that now.

It just gave me an opportunity to use that picture I took at WalMart several years ago. The opportunities are few and far between.

Astros fan wife and I are going to the game Monday. Hope the good guys win!

Probably gonna watch tonight's game at a bar in Houston wearing my Rangers gear, so wish me luck.

Thoughts and prayers.. also, I feel for you with the Astro fan wife.
I got the same situation. Rangers fan, Astros fan wife. Been working on her and now she'll root for the Rangers when they aren't playing the Astros. Full conversion may be more difficult.

Good on ya lol

We put it in our vows that we would root for the other's team when they weren't playing each other (complete coincidence).. she's had to call me out a few times hahaha but her Dad still isn't too thrilled with my choice of teams.

Strengthens the bullpen when the 8th inning has been killing them. Ragans nearly 26 and just not showing a lot. I'm down

Ooof, Miller is back on the active roster. Last I saw on the Scott Lucas updates, he was still struggling during his AA and AAA rehab stints.

RANGERS ACQUIRE LHP AROLDIS CHAPMAN FROM KANSAS CITY
IN EXCHANGE FOR LHP COLE RAGANS AND OF RONI CABRERA
Texas announces several additional roster moves prior to tonight's game

Arlington, Texas The Texas Rangers announced that the club has acquired left-handed pitcher Aroldis Chapman from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for left-handed pitcher Cole Ragans and minor league outfielder Roni Cabrera.

The Rangers have also made the following roster moves this evening:

Right-handed pitcher Glenn Otto activated from 60-day Injured List.
Infielder/outfielder Brad Miller activated from 10-day Injured List.
Left-handed pitcher John King optioned to Round Rock (AAA).
Right-handed pitcher Yerry Rodrguez optioned to Round Rock (AAA).
Catcher Sam Huff optioned to Round Rock (AAA).

Chapman, 35, has gone 4-2 with 2 saves and a 2.45 ERA (8 ER/29.1 IP) in 31 relief appearances for the Royals this season, striking out 53 of 122 (43.4%) batters faced. He ranks among A.L. relief leaders in 2023 in strikeouts (4th), opp. OPS (7th, .483), and opp. batting average (9th, .158). The left-hander's 16.26 strikeouts per 9.0 innings figure this season is 2nd-highest among MLB relief qualifiers to only Baltimore's Flix Bautista, and would be his best mark since 2020 (16.97).

Among pitchers in Major League history with at least 500.0 innings, Chapman ranks first in strikeouts per 9.0 innings (14.76), strikeout pct. (40.4%), hits per 9.0 innings (5.14), and opp. batting average (.164). His 1,098 career strikeouts as a reliever are 13th-most all-time, and he is one of three left-handed pitchers in MLB history to record at least 1,000 strikeouts in relief along with Billy Wagner (1,196) and Jesse Orosco (1,169).

Chapman has converted 317 of 357 (88.8%) save opportunities in his career, the 6th-highest save percentage in MLB history (min. 100 save opp.) behind only Eric Gagne (91.7%), John Smoltz (91.1%), Craig Kimbrel (89.4%), Joe Nathan (89.1%), and Mariano Rivera (89.1%). He is one of 14 pitchers, since the save became an official statistic in 1969, to record at least eight 30-save seasons. His lifetime 317 saves rank 24th all-time and 3rd among active pitchers to Kenley Jansen (407) and Kimbrel (406).

Chapman has thrown 149 pitches at 100.0+ mph this year (Statcast), 3rd-most in MLB behind only St. Louis' Jordan Hicks (321) and Minnesota's Jhoan Duran (232). He threw the fastest tracked pitch in Royals history (103.8 mph) on May 16 at San Diego, and is also the record holder for the New York Yankees (105.7), Chicago Cubs (105.1), and Cincinnati Reds (105.8). His average four-seam fastball velocity this season (99.4 mph) is 3rd-highest in MLB (min. 500 pitches thrown) to only Hicks (101.1) and Los Angeles-NL's Bobby Miller (higher 99.4).

The seven-time All-Star is one of four relief pitchers in MLB history to earn as many as seven All-Star selections, joining Rivera (13), Kimbrel (8), and Goose Gossage (8).

A World Series champion with the Chicago Cubs in 2016, Chapman has gone 3-4 with 10 saves and a 2.40 ERA (11 ER/41.1 IP) in 35 career postseason appearances. He has struck out 62 of 168 (36.9%) batters faced in postseason play, good for the most relief strikeouts and highest strikeout pct. in MLB postseason history (min. 40.0 IP).

The 14-year Major League veteran owns a career 48-37 record, 317 saves, and 2.47 ERA (184 ER/669.1 IP) with Cincinnati (2010-2015), New York-AL (2016, 2017-22), Chicago-NL (2016), and Kansas City (2023). A native of Holgun, Cuba, Chapman originally signed with the Reds as a non-drafted free agent on January 11, 2010.

I like the price we paid a lot, and hopefully being on a competitive team will give him a boost! I just hope he can be consistent, and throw 102 and not 97 down the shoot lol. I'll also be curious where we pitch him, because I have a buddy who's a massive KC fan who's pretty adamant he doesn't need to be in a true closer role anymore.

Even if he is not elite anymore, we now have Sborz/Smith/Chapman available (in whatever order) for the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings. That is a definite upgrade and pushes some of the other relievers we've been running out there out of the 7-8-9 innings. I am good with that. Plus, Ragans is a good prospect, but I see him as more of a back of the rotation type guy, so I am good with what we gave up.

Rangers didn't even have to take on much salary. Chapman is making $3.75M this year, so roughly half of that is what the Rangers pay for the remainder of the season. I'd do this deal 10 times out of 10. Good move CY.

I think LeClerc can help here. He's looked better of late, just keep him out of the late inning pressure situations if at all possible. He should be back from the IL soon.

This is from a fan base of a team who traded for a guy literally in the middle of a domestic violence case right?
