Cease, Crochet, Giolito, Kopech, Kelly, Gravemen, Lopez, Anderson, Vaughn, Benintendi, Robert, Jiminez, Lynn, and Hendricks.

All players that at the very least I feel comfortable saying would be classified as "solid" to "good" players around the league. With Robert, Cease, and Hendricks being more like "great" players. Of course some of them are having down years, but that doesn't mean you throw in the towel in June in a super weak division.
I"m being a little pedantic... but most on here believe we need at least 1 more ToTR SP to compete.

Pitchers:
Giolito (#18 in AL ERA, 3.54)
Crochet (10G, 10.0 IP, 3.60)
Kopech (#19, 3.92)
Cease (#24, 4.31)
Kelly (23G, 4.57)
Graverman (31G, 2.67)
Lopez (33G, 5.52)
Lynn (#29 in AL ERA, 6.51)

ETA I bolded "AL ERA rank" for their SP to hightlist their rotation.

Hitters:
Vaugn (.237, 9HR)
Benintendi (.275, 1HR)
Anderson (.250, 0HR)
Jiminez (.252, .8HR)

Graverman is likely the only player you've listed that interests me as a Rangers fan that I think could help our team.

Can they work to make the playoffs? Sure, but the window for this season is closing for the White Sox.

Oh for sure, it's absolutely closing and I don't expect them to make the playoffs. I just don't believe that they are positioning themselves for a draft pick because of the caliber of player they have on their team. Now, after the trade deadline, I expect them to be as god awful as possible lol.

Kelly has a high ERA, but his K/BB ratio is 4.0

Then we're on the same page. My point was we could help convince them in this series.

I would honestly take any of Cease, Giolito, Kopech( starters), Graveman, Lopez, Hendricks (relievers). Chicago feels like one of the most toxic places to play right now, and I think all of those guys would have better results elsewhere just by getting out of the Southside.

I will also add this; I don't expect Chicago to go full blow it up and get rid of all of them. I think they'll trim some guys, but keep others. Not a full restart.

I think zack Greinke would be a good ( and cheap) addition. He could help solidify the back of the rotation. He has World Series starter experience so the moment isn't too big for him. I know we would be acquiring him 10 years or even 5 years after we all would've wanted, but I wouldn't hate it because the royals won't ask for much to trade him.
DallasAg 94
How long do you want to ignore this user?
No major disagreement. It does seem toxic and many of those players are likely "change of scenery" guys.

Having said that... take is one thing... would you trade a player for them?

Maybe a SP to round things out and eat innings, if you can get him for nothing, but none of those guys are ahead of Eovaldi or Gray. Heaney and Perez are likely interchangeable with CWS. I still don't know about Dunning.

The question for CWS in 2024 will be what they keep.

Grandal, Andrus, Lopes, and Giolito are FAs. Lynn, Hendricks, Kelly, Clevenger, and Anderson have a Option (team, player, or mutual).

Interesting move. Jung offers more pure power, and he gets barrels and hard hits more than Lowe. On the other hand, Lowe has better plate discipline across the board than Jung.

The general thought during his 2010 season was that he struggled early in his career with anxiety and IIRC, 2010 was filled with rumors of trade and uncertainty.

He was a risk but some would say a risk worth taking.

Over his 20 year career... 166IP/Yr. WOW.

I think the radio team indicated Bochy told Jung he was going to be the #5 guy and that he'd have ups and downs but that he was going to stick with him.

I think this is a move for ROY... whether the intention or not.

ESPN highlighted Boston's Yoshida, calling him the Japanese Juan Soto.

Moving Jung to 3rd protects him with Garcia (.260, 15HR), instead of Heim (.278, 9HR).

Jung and Yoshida are likely the top 2 of about 5 players contending for ROY. They are different players, but some numbers:

RBI: Jung (43) v Yoshida (36)
Runs: Jung (49) v Yoshida (36)
HR: Jung (14) v Yoshida (7)
BA: Jung (.278) v Yoshida (.308)

Yoshida winning the AL ROY would be a sham. Jung is a true rookie, Yoshida amounts to the college football equivalent of a redshirt sophomore or something. The guy got tons of years to perfect his craft in Japan.

They kind of owe us anyway. I felt like we were robbed in ROY when they gave it to Arozarena over Garcia.

Yeah he would provide stability. We don't want what happened with Grey to happen to often where we have a bullpen day or some unprepared player from triple A. For the record, Bradford has done great overall, but the other guy we brought up sucked.

Jung also outperforms him in nearly every advanced metric, offensively and especially defensively. It'd be robbery if he didn't win it at this point.

Corey Seager has a WRC+ of 192. There is no one even close to him right now. Ohtani is the closest at 173.

Also, Leody Taveras is the next highest ranger at 136. Who had that in their bingo card to start the year?

It's asinine to say this but I think Seager had been woefully underrated by the national types this season. It seems like anytime someone outside of the rangers talk about his current stats they have to qualify it with the time spent on IL. If anything that should make his current clip MORE impressive. Dude is on an absolute tear right now with no signs of slowing down.

Agree. I don't think there's anyone in the game better at barreling up the ball than Seager.

How close are Leody, Seager, and Duran to "qualifying" anyway? They just need more at bats right?

On 790 Sparky is now saying "this team is tired, all the postseason games over the years have taken their effect and everybody is on fumes." Also said the WBC didn't help

That isn't very comforting considering we still have 3.5 months of games with very little off days
Astros are coming up with another excuse. Get ready to start hearing this from any Astro fans you may or may not know.

You need 3.1 PA/Gm.

So, the Ranger after today will be 72 Games. That means 223.2 PAs.

Taveras: 222 PA <- He is qualified.
Duran: 188 PA (Needs 35 +/-)
Seager: 181 PA (Needs 42 +/-)

Seager has been getting between 4 and 5PA/G. So, he could be Qualified in a month or so.

Duran was closer, but I believe he had at least 1 day off. He needs to at least DH if he continues to bat at the bottom.

Another good reason for the Rangers to score double-digits. More PAs.

Edited to correct math.

With each game the amount of plate appearances increases by 3.1 PAs. If he gets 4-5 per game, then he is only gaining 1 or 2 per game. So, it will be another 21-42 games before Seager catches up and a few less for Duran.

That is really a true statement, however if this were a legitimate "dynasty" they'd figure out a way to overcome it. True dynasties fight there way thru. I do not believe the Lastros are a true dynasty.

I know a few, what I'd classify as real fans that they admit that there is not much left to trade away to help improve this team right now.

FYI:

Batting Avg:
#1. Hayes - .320

Rangers:
#5. Taveras - .302
#18. Semien - .279
#19. Heim - .278
#20. Jung - .278 (his hit today moves up to .281)
#25. Lowe - .272

Seager - .363 <- Would be #1
Duran - .309 <- Would be 3rd
