Bochy pre-game indicated that Grossman was going to DH. He seemed to imply something wasn't quite right, but I couldn't tell. It was enough to give me something to wonder about considering how I criticized him 2 games ago.

I believe he also said Taveras was taking BP and would be evaluated after the game.

So this is already the second game we've seen a position player pitching this year

They will be one of the three or four worst teams in the league this year unless they continue to call up young guys and they become a catalyst. But, their lineup leaves a lot to be desired. They need Bobby Witt Jr. to go and be a guy guy.

Yes.

Bochy said on the radio pre-game that it was his 1st year and he hasn't played a deep season. He indicated this could be a regular thing. There was a mention of 140 G. I couldn't tell if he was saying that is their target... or that, since he hadn't played 140 G in multiple seasons, it would be a challenge for him.

There are things I like about the way Bochy's interviews... and things that are just confusing. You can probably tell by my other comments about the pre-game interview.

That better be the move. Leody/ Bubba/ Jankowski is a nice rotation in the OF with game changing speed. Miller brings nothing to the table.

Someone is going to have to go...and I'd be okay with it being Miller. There's just no room for him on the roster imo. Sure he's a left-handed bat, but so is Grossman against righties and he actually plays the field. Plus, if we wanted a bat to just DH, why not just call up Foscue and have him DH. He's at least got upside and options.

But eating about $4.5 MM in salary

You can eat it by DFA/trade now or eat it down the road by letting your talent stay at AAA when they should be getting big league experience so you can have that talent ready when the window to compete is open.

No one likes to throw away cash but I think the Rangers are looking to the future right now and need to get big league ABs for their young talent now, not later. Arguments could be made that any of the replacements for Miller will produce as much or more now and obviously later.

Worst hitter on the team is batting DH. We've really got to improve that. As another poster said bring up Foscue or a real hitter for that spot. Mike Bacsik brought up an interesting potential trade scenario if the royals and rangers continue to trend the way they're trending. Trade for Salvador Perez and have Heim/ Perez be your C/ DH rotation. Perez has a no trade clause in his contract but he could waive it for the right team. CY and Perez have a history together in KC.
