I think they were just ruling out the purpose of the replay. Wasn't about if he touched the plate/tagged…it was about if there was a block at the plate.

He's trying to make his native NY accent sound more southern given the audience, and it ends up this really cheesy fake voice that sounds like an old guy trying to be cool. Strange.
