Think it's pretty obvious who the best team in baseball is at this point. It's Atlanta, then a group of about 5 teams and then everyone else.

Sam Huff since being optioned back down is 12 for 21 with 4 2B, 2 HR 4 BB and just 1 K. We have a lot of guys that are just as hot right now. Perfect timing before the trade deadline.

Atlanta is on another level right now. Our lineup and depth is deeper but Atlanta is a better complete team. I think they win it all this year if they can stay healthy.
Just saw the uniforms the nationals had on tonight. The uniforms are not terrible but not sure what pink flowers has to do with the city.
Finish strong with a sweep of the Nats and I'll feel much better about this team. CY has got to be motivated to address the bullpen and maybe make a big move for a TORP. Once/ if that happens we'll be in great shape for the back half.

Small sample size, but I like the way he has settled in.

So who are we feeling in the draft? For the longest time I was leaning Jenkins, but for the last week and a half I've been pretty high on Max Clark. Reminds me of Drew Gilbert from Tennessee last year.

Atlanta is playing some good baseball, now, for sure. They are 19-2 in their last 21 Games and have beaten some good teams - Cincy, Minn, Miami, Cleveland...and now playing Tampa.
But, back up 10 games ago and they didn't seem that far ahead.

Atlanta may win it all. We'll see.

I don't hate the Sips... but, like Astros fans, I like them to lose so I don't have to listen to them.

Depends on who you think has the higher upside, it's that simple. If we hit on Evan Carter, I don't think a guy like Max Clark will ever make it to the big leagues for us. Doesn't mean we can't trade him, but he's got less of a chance in our system. I really don't care either way though. It's Houston fans. Look, this is all they've got. And the insecurity and hate towards DFW, while amazingly weird and one-sided, is real. They hate that so few DFW fans care about their teams, although we have to now that Houston is in our division.
I give them major props for what they've built and accomplished. As a lifelong Rangers fan, I just can't imagine winning a World Series title. 2011 is the pain that will never heal, much like The Catch in 1981 against the Cowboys. It's seared in my brain forever for cruelness. And at least the Cowboys would get their revenge years later. The Rangers haven't even gotten close to redemption. I mean, we get bat flipped into baseball history by Toronto in an epic choke. So seeing the Astros win multiple titles and go to 6 straight LCS, I'll easily admit that is amazing to accomplish. And I still throughly expect them to win it all again this year. They have more talent and experience than anyone besides Atlanta.

He started the 2022 season poorly and everyone was discouraged. Then, in June, or so, he took off and everyone was excited.
For the 2023 season, he has 377 AB, 103 H, 11 HR, .273, .338 OBP in 89G
From April 12 to May 16, he played 31G, 121 AB, 39 H, 6 HR, .322, .428 OBP
That leaves the other 58G, 256 AB, 64 H, 5 HR, .250 BA
Sometimes I wonder if he is trying to be more than he needs to be with Seager. Started pretty tight in 2022, then relaxed as the season went on. Team was doing great while Seager was out, this season:
Overall: 52-37
Team is 33-24 (.579) with Seager
Team is 19-13 (.594) without Seager
I think we all expected a huge bump in Ws when Seager was added back. Seager's performance has been spectacular, which means we aren't really seeing it in Ws. I'm hoping they are just pressing too hard with the AS distraction and being the Division leaders. Sometimes playing from behind is different than playing from the lead.

Lately he seems to be pressing quite a bit. He's been a streaky hitter since he's been a Ranger. Let's just hope he snaps out of it by the end of July and gets hot again. I just wish Bochy would tinker with the line up a little and give some guys a shot at the top of the order. Leody comes to mind as a a perfect lead off guy.

I mentioned earlier (a month or so ago), but apparently at the start of the season he told Jung that he was going to be his #5 hitter. He told Jung he expected some ups-and-downs, but that he was going to be the #5 guy.
I think the idea was to take the pressure off of Jung trying to prove too much and then further slumping (like he is now) because he is concerned he will get sent down.
As mentioned, I think Bochy wants players to know their role and that can work against him.
He sent Chapman out for the 8th... Smith for the 9th. Even though it wasn't a Save opportunity, it was a "This is your role" type message.
There is a lot to be said about routine and expectations in baseball. Most managers do it, Bannister, Wash, Dusty... it isn't surprising most managers don't run with the hot hand.
