Yeah I mean to say I like where we are at as a franchise for this season, but really going to need the top 2 in the rotation to pitch like a legit #1 and #2 if we're going to roll out that lineup every day.

I just found myself on Opening Day watching Heim step up to the plate and thinking "having Heim as our bottom of the lineup guy is pretty stout as he's still got a good bit of pop". Then realizing he was batting 6th.

Obviously Grossman and Miller have gotten it done the first 2 days... But unless Jung really rakes his first full season, a #5-9 of Jung/Heim/Grossman/Miller/Smith does not instill a ton of long-term confidence.

Season "long-term" or multi-year "long-term?"

I think with where we are payroll-wise, we probably aren't making too many additions this season. Not a ton invested in that group. I don't disagree that doesn't broadcast Championship.

3B: Jung (25) - Serf
C: Heim (28) - Last Serf year
LF: Grossman (33) - 1yr/$2M
DH: Miller (33) - 1yr/$4M
Ut: Smith (25) - Serf

This is where it gets complicated and Chris Young will have to earn his money. Hopefully we're in the hunt come Trade Deadline and we have some pieces to negotiate with.

If needed, I can see us taking on a free-agent-to-be salary dump bat to bolster the lineup. The commitment would only be a few months. And/or a relief pitcher. But we've got to do our part and stay in the race for the WC for that to happen.

We also have some tradable prospects that could be packaged up for someone with several years of control that wouldn't be as costly $$$-wise. But first we need for the rotation to stay healthy to keep us in the race.

Adolis has such a frustrating approach at the plate. First pitch 74 MPH hanging curve right over the heart of the plate and no swing. Next two pitches are out of the zone and he's not even close on the swing
