Good point. The timing is wild. Wonder if Montas concealed the injury to make sure he got paid.Farmer1906 said:

Why or why didn't the Yankees realize this sooner? They could have cut him and not have to pay for his final year of Arb like how LA did with Belly.
Was he traded? I thought he signed with NY as a free agent.Farmer1906 said:Bassitt last year was just fine.EastCoastAgNc said:I truly can't remember the last time someone traded with the A's for a starting pitcher and it turned out well for the acquiring team. I don't disagree. The second baseman is having to play a few feet away from where he wants to, but its not like he has to start in a more traditional spot. If he did, then Altuve is going to bat .350. Same for Breggy.Beat40 said:
The interesting thing to me will be if the 2nd baseman is where the blue X is and they have to range to their left for any sort of stretch play on the fringe, will they have the arm to get Altuve out consistently?
The shift ban probably still helps Altuve more than it keeps things the same for him.

Quote:
An executive with direct knowledge of the RSNs' financial dealings confirmed to Sportico that the AT&T outlets in Denver, Houston and Pittsburgh submitted their most recent rights payments to their MLB clubs in a timely fashion, although the disbursements were not commensurate with the contracted rates. The teams impacted by the shortfall are the Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros and Pittsburgh Pirates.
The precise amount of the funds withheld is not known but is said to be significant enough to have catalyzed concerns about the long-term viability of the three networks. According to one insider, the partial payments may be interpreted as a signal that new-ish owners Warner Bros. Discovery are eager to get out of the RSN business.
Sportico reported that WBD execs "were unaware of the issue."Quote:
Another source with direct knowledge of the situation has since reached out to the Post-Gazette to dispute Sportico's reporting, saying that payments are not due until the start of the MLB season. For that reason, no payment or part of a payment to the teams in question has been missed.

From earlier tweet "if Brantley isn't cleared". I hadn't heard there's a chance he's not cleared - should we be concerned?
It's still a good idea not to take much revelry in other team's injury woes (like the Rangers and Yankees no matter how much we hate them).Farmer1906 said:Big Al 1992 said:

Yes. If you're worried about opening day. Overall? Nah.

Based on the way his teammates talk about him and that speech he gave to the team after game 3, I think everyone in the clubhouse considers it his title too. I'm sure the competitor in Brantley is hungry as hell he wasn't on the field.

You better believe it. They may not say it publically, but I am pretty sure Lance and Alex keep tabs on all of it.Deluxe said:
Lance has probably seen some of the "best SP duos in MLB" rankings with Framber and Javier as the two featured Astros. I bet that grinds his gears and gives him lots of motivation to re-emerge as our ace this year.

Phil Maton said he is fully recovered and expects a normal spring training. If anything, Maton said he may be “one bullpen behind.” Maton missed the postseason last year after punching his locker and fracturing his right hand.
