If we don't pick up a catcher I would prefer to roll with Diaz as the back up given that it seems he has a live bat. That would allow Lee to get a full season in the minors to work on his bat which wasn't great at any level he played in 2022. Dias can also play a bit agh 1st and LF which provides some flexibility

And if he didn't pull Grienke and the exact same thing happens people would say criticism is warranted as well. Its a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. We have the luxury of looking back at saying it was the wrong decision because we know the outcome.
