His career is riddled with injury issues. His contract and the one Kris Bryant signed are looking real bad already

I don't think Bloom will be in Boston very much longer.

Somebody smarter than me make sense of the Correa situation. You're tying up 33 million plus a year (possibly as much as 40 something with incentives) for a guy who you went 78-84 with last year. Your other key off season gets were Gallo and Vazquez, and while still young Correa isn't young enough to build a team around as a 5 year pay-off.

Seems you could have stretched that money a lot further with oft injured Buxton and Sano aging.

Can't afford gasoline prices there. They walk.

Most players have historically left a small market team to go to a contender and bigger payday. Carlos and his agent left a perennial contender to go to a small market team with less odds of getting to postseason, got a big payday but not near as much as projected. Convinced it would be for a very short time (1-3 years) and then you could realize that bigger payday, bigger market, better team. And now back to that same small market, .500 team. Seems to me Boras has a lot of explaining to do to CC and Daniella.

It's the cars they can't afford
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

That was kind of my joke but poorly delivered by me, I guess. My bad.

I mean, if he had passed his medical with the Giants or Mets, that's exactly what would have happened.

Not sure how that is Boras' fault.

Its true he does not play a very aesthetic brand of baseball, but I think he will be worth $1 yr/$11 million to a team like the Twins.
I don't care if he hits 5 home runs or 50, I just want the kid to have a shot at 223 before the window closes on his prime.

Ok, so where's the release of his physical report?

Sure seems like just a lot of leverage used against him after what he said he felt after the slide versus anything anyone actually discovered in a report.

Seems to me that Boras should be more to blame for throwing his client out there without going into the negotiations first showing their own doctors reports. I guess Boras can't burn any bridges with clubs so sometimes better to represent yourself.

so far he's been the media darling of all the national reporters

but that may be changing.

edit...whoa, didn't realize 4 to 6 months is the expected timeframe for Story's recovery

yes, when Carlos left the Astros...the plan was not to be in Minnesota for the next 7 years.

he lost free agency.

similar to George's ending up in Toronto

I am not sure George considers it a loss. He's from the NE. Toronto is a contender who's paying him thru age 36.

Correa lost because of a medical issue. It's out of his control. Without that he gets a ridiculous 350 M.

In both instances, the Astros and free agents made the correct choice.

Agree about George. Not to mention the organization screwed him. He 100% made the right choice.

Totally disagree w/ Correa. He could have stayed, made a little bit less but still plenty of $, won another ring or two, not have had anything come up about his injury history and then gotten one more decent payout from us or from someone else to end his career.

I know sticking with your stance until the bitter end is your trademark, and I think you had a strong case before all of this flopping happened, but based on the way it's ended up, you're wrong about this one.

It's only "wrong" because he's damaged goods. No one seemed to know that, including Carlos. Knowing what the world knew then, it was the right choice. In the free market he would have made 385 in the years leaving the Astros. I think asking for a 200+ M pay cut is a little much. Even after the fact he is still making 75 M more as a Twin than Astro.

The Twins have a good farm and play in a weak division. I could easily see them in the playoffs this year.

I agree that if he thought he could get those initial contracts, it was the right move to go...

But it ends up it was the wrong move.

Ford and Sparks are awesome to listen to. I usually turn down the TV and listen to their call of the game. I have listened to many other radio broadcasts and these guys are definitely in the top 3 or 4 at what they do. In my opinion, they are easily the best, but I'm pretty biased as a huge Astros fan.
