Eovaldi's real worth is in the playoffs.

Not sure how that helps the Rangers but that's a nice back end of the rotation piece at a fair price.
It theoretically helps the Rangers when they are 30 games out at the deadline and trade him for prospects.

But as we all know they will still feel like they are just a year away and will hold him for the '24 pennant run.

It can't be right. Amongst many things off I've been assured the Arlingtonians will be challenging for a pennant.
Yeah they are all "rethinking their fall plans", per the thread.

DKR gonna be pretty empty if they are all at Rangers playoffs games.

They sure are concerned about how bad we were on their thread. Maybe they should worry more about how much they spend to still be mediocre

I get losing the CY winner may prompt some to drop the win total but although a rookie Brown is no slouch and Javier will get more starts.

The offense with Abreu is better.

I'd say 96.5 is a good O/U number. I don't bet on sports but I may have to place a large wager on the over at 92.5.

Odorizzi is in their rotation so signing you or me would help them.

Odo is a cheap 5th starter. I would not be shocked to see the Rangers bet big on Bauer. A rotation of DeGrom, Bauer, Eovaldi, Perez and Odo is a solid group.

I'll be in Vegas 2nd week of Jan. If that's their O/U on wins too and not just some Twitter hack - I'll put bets down on behalf of TexAgs Astro posters. We can all count down wins together.

My BIL is currently @ Caesar's & they have the Astros O/U at 92.5…

But also have us as the favorites to win the WS.

We've only been under that # once since 2017 and it was the cursed 2020 team. I'd put the 2023 team on paper as good as any of the 100 win teams. I would have expected Vegas to have our number 95-98.

I'd actually take the over on both the Stros and the Mariners. Obviously the under on the Yankees.

Finally got the newspapers put up in the home office.

Does anyone know where I can get championship pennants from 2005, 2017, 2019, and 2021? I need more on the wall.

That's a good deal. Braves got better and the NL East is going to be brutal. There are a lot of very very good teams in the NL and only one can play for the ring.

TF is in the water there in ATL that all these young guys jump on board at signing team friendly deals?

Wouldnt bet on baseball. Whose to say yankees wont get all the juiced balls this season and astros get all the dead balls.?

That 92 wins is probably 4-5 wins off the correct O/U. All it takes for that to happen is an injury or two to key players.

We are spoiled because of the teams lately, but 92 wins is a great season. We had only done it 6 times total before 2017.

My issue isn't with the win total as much as it's where we are in the win pecking order behind so many teams

That's just dumb

This is the Braves core for the next 6 years, and most will be 7 years.

Austin Riley (25.7)
Matt Olson (28.8)
Ronald Acuna (25.0)
Spencer Strider (24.2)
Sean Murphy (28.2)
Michael Harris II (21.8)

The highest single year for any of them is ONLY 22 M.

In 2028, when they're all getting the most money, those 6 will be making a total of 108 M. For comparison, the Mets are paying JV, Scherzer, and Lindor 120.7 M this year. From 2024 to 2028, the Yankees will be playing Judge, Cole, & Rodon (all in their last 30s) 103.8 M.

What the Braves are doing right now is locking in a dynasty. They got their 1st, I 99% expect them to get at least one more. They're going to be elite for at least 6 years.

It would be like Crane locking up Altuve, Correa, Springer, Alvarez, Bregman, & McCullers for 6 years together.

The balanced schedule will make a big difference this year in win totals. Teams like Cleveland can't load up on the bad ALCentral. And we have to play all the NL East and NL West teams too.

Betting on win totals this year will be a real crap shoot.

In this day and age, I love what the braves are doing. As a smaller market team, I appreciate not dropping stupid money on stupid contracts yet still winning. Crazy they didn't even have Acuna in 2021 for their full run.

It easier to be a fan when your team wins. It's also either when there are long tenured players. When you have both? That's about as good as it gets.

Other than maldy, our lineup this year consisted of 8 homegrown guys the majority of the time once Brantley got hurt. Mostly true in 2017 as well. It just hits different.

True but we've recycled thru a ton of guys too. Only JV, Altuve, Breggy, Yuli, & LMJ we're on both title teams. If we happen to win a 3rd, it'll be likely with just 3 or fewer for all 3.

True. But that could be your third category…Being able to recycle with homegrown talent. End of the day, it's all about not buying a WS.

Those win totals are insulting to a lot more teams than just the Astros. They have the Dodgers winning 21 fewer games - almost a 20% lower total. They're saying the Phillies team that was white hot in October, made the World Series, and added Trea Turners is going to win 2 fewer games this year.

The irony of comments about the Astros and their fans in a Rangerettes thread on page 18 compared to this one already on page 174 is rich.

All those dumb contracts can't buy their fans some self-awareness apparently.
