I wouldn't want him in the field more than 30-40 games total. But yes, for the right price.
split the home games in LF with Yordan then the others at DH. Give him a game or 2 in LF in Boston...

I wonder if Crane will have a conversation with himself and ask if he's willing to bet his job on an injured MB in LF.
Is Crane a dick to himself in these conversations now that he's de facto GM?

Everyone's orders have shipped. I want to thank everyone for their understanding in dealing with all of the small shipping issues we had with getting the products in. In return I give you what the board likes best....sweater puppies.

Not if we don't have another option so we play Dubon or Jake in CF.

Yep, you would think at least one pitcher from the best pen in baseball last season would sneak on to the list somewhere. I guess they can argue that the Astros pen is made up with a bunch of very good with no weak links instead of a true standout.

Depends on our options. If we don't sign another OFer then he'd just need to be better than Dubon on the days Yordan is not in LF.

I am not a fan of the option that requires Yordan to be in the field the majority of the time...but Crane didn't ask my opinion

I know they won't get them all right.

But if we you have 3 and you retain them if you win them it's gonna end up being way more than just 3 challenges.

Just overall not a fan. Just use robo umps with no challenges. It's gonna happen eventually why not now?

And yes I know it's because of the ump union.
Yea, f' the umps.

I haven't put a lot of thought into it, but I guess Pena should hit 2nd on the planet that he hit 2nd while winning ALCS and WS MVP for the defending World Series champs.

I don't know about the rest of the order, but I think Pena has earned the right to at least start the season up there.

Bregman's 7 years haven't earned that right yet Peña's hot 3 weeks has?

With as much as he walks, I'd probably lead Breggy off. Not that I think Dusty would do that.

I just don't have a problem with Peña 2nd and I thought the "on what planet" bit was a little dramatic. He's been most successful there, probably because he's so protected. Sometimes it's just about not messing with what works, and that has.

If I had to guess, I'd say Bregman cleanup on opening day & Abreu 6th.

Bregman should bat third or cleanup. I'd put Abreu 6th. He hit .300 but didn't hit many homers.

The Rangers, seeking a corner outfielder, are among the clubs interested in free agent Michael Conforto, who also is on the radar of the Mets, Astros and, according to the New York Post, the Marlins.

Conforto, who turns 30 on March 1, did not play at all last season because of a shoulder injury that required surgery. Boras, his agent, told reporters at Brandon Nimmo's news conference Thursday that the outfielder is seeking a deal that is, "short-term, probably a couple of years with an opt-out."

The Astros, as first reported by USA Today, explored a trade for Diamondbacks' Daulton Varsho, but believe the price is too high. The return of Michael Brantley remains possible.

I think we're going to have a bunch of very disappointed posters when Pena is more like 2022 Regular Season and not like the 2x postseason MVP.

Just because I'm OK with him being in the spot in the lineup where he's been more successful doesn't mean I think he's going to hit like A-Rod.

I think he might end up being a pretty damn good hitter and right now I think he needs the confidence he gets out of it. If he starts hitting like Adam Everett then move him on down but I think it would be dumb not to give him a shot to build on what he's done so far.

I hear you though I really feel we are underestimating Yordan's desire to play in the field on a semi-regular basis and how the Astros commitment to that may have factored into his decision to sign his latest deal. Obviously, no inside info, but I feel reading between the lines, the Astros have committed to giving him that opportunity. I could be completely off base though, who knows.

What's wrong with that?

22 regular season Pena was just fine and I expect an uptick after getting his rookie season under his belt.
