The money some clubs are spending is crazy level $$. Something in the last year changed and it not just the CBA.

The league is about to more stratified than it's ever been. And that's not good.

That contract seems pretty dumb if he performs like the recent past

And not that brilliant if he's somewhat close to previous highs.

On a serious note I want a gambling group like Caesar's or Draft Kings to sue MLB for creating an artificial imbalance and knowingly alter the game outcomes.

Not that I think he will get close, but previous highs was MVP & CF GG. So I'd say that would look pretty brilliant on their part.

Just for perspective, 1 WAR on the free agent market usually costs about $9 million.

In a year where they won't make the playoffs?

I think you'd want some additional team options if you're shelling out that much for a glorified reclamation project
