That leaves the Padres, Cubs, Giants & Dodgers all going after new SS and the Red Sox, Twins, & Braves trying to keep their guy. 7 teams, 3 players. Money will be SPENT!

Bellinger is worth closer to the league minimum than he is $20mm.

What an incredible misread of the situation and the market. He needs to fire his agent ASAP.

I bet its closer to 20 M than the league min.

pretty sure Bellinger is the one wanting and thinking he deserves $20 million, not his agent.

Well yeah but it's his agents job to say 'Dude...There's no way. let's be realistic'.

There's a difference in having a high starting ask and completely misinterpreting the market for a guy who can't hit his weight and was cut.

Maybe someone who's desperate pays it but I doubt it and in no way shape or form should it be the Astros.

you answered your own response. His agent, and himself wants to make as much as he can. Pretty simple. If his salary will be as low as everyone seems to think their is no reason for him to sign a crap deal at this point. He can wait it out....OR "maybe someone desperate pays it"

Joey Gallo got $10 million from the Yankees last year, that's got to be about the upper end of his value for a gamble.

100% would have picked the Padres over the Phillies at equal money. But and extra 50-60 M? Hell yes.

Yeah, now that it's mentioned, I actually think it's a really good fit for him.

Would be kinda fun to see him be a thorn in the Dodgers side from 100 miles down the road

his wife is from Jersey. Maybe that was the draw. He also played in DC, so maybe he's a closet Yankee.

Just a heads up. Tracking numbers went out today for some of the orders and more are going out this week and the beginning of next. I am still waiting on tumblers and apologize for the delays. With issues from both RTIC and Yeti, a lot of orders have been slow but they are coming.

I also have some boards that were messed up when engraving or in shipping. I will sell them at a discounted rate. If you would like to see one shoot me a pm or text me.

The White Sox might be open to trading closer Liam Hendriks, but they are telling teams they will not move shortstop Tim Anderson, who is under club control for two more seasons.

Anderson, 29, is signed for $12.5 million in 2023, and the White Sox hold a $14 million club option on him for 2024. Their decision to hold Anderson reflects their short-term focus, even as they entertain the possibility of moving Hendriks. The White Sox's willingness to listen on Hendriks is partly due to the strength of their bullpen, and partly because they lack the prospect depth to swing major trades.

Quote:

Two agents for other players suspect the Dodgers are in on shortstop Carlos Correa, presuming he would accept a monstrous AAV on a shorter term. But it's also possible the team could patch with lesser free agents such as third baseman Justin Turner and center fielder Kevin Kiermaier. That way, the Dodgers could save the big money for the player they truly want the biggest free agent in next year's class, Shohei Ohtani.

This next one cracked me up
Quote:

Gary Snchez's agent, Francisco Marquez, has made a presentation to teams pointing out that the catcher's exit velocities last season compared well to those of Contreras and Vzquez, and that his expected slugging percentage and weighted on-base average were significantly higher than his actual numbers.

"The most important aspect of the 2022 season was that at the end of the season Gary was able to finally and completely shake off the emotional baggage he had acquired during his previous two seasons with the Yankees," Marquez said. "Whoever gets Gary this offseason will benefit from the rebirth of the Kraken."

the National League is spending money like drunk sailors and then some.

and of course the guilty pleasure is that only 1 team can get to the World Series each year...among the Dodgers, Padres, Phillies, and Mets.

and the Braves can block all 4 of them

The Pads are spending money and have been trading for tons players.

So have the Phillies.

It's like MAD.

Not directly Astros related, but I know a lot of posters liked his Twitter posts during this last post season. He seems like a good guy that's worth rooting for.

That was an arbitration year. They agreed on it to avoid going to arb.

Yeah that was a tough read.

Of all the social media personalities Chris is by far my favorite. Always seemes like a smart intelligent down to earth guy.

T&P to him on his road to recovery and I'll be rooting for him and looking forward to his comeback.

A's in Las Vegas would make for a fun road trip

San Antonio would also be a lot of fun from a regional rivalry standpoint, but there's next to zero chance that happens.

Montreal would also be awesome if we could get the Expos back.

I don't really want them in Vegas. Beane could be dangerous with a payroll 2x-3x what they've got now.

EDIT: From a road trip standpoint, I would like it though.

I think Vegas makes the most sense. While it might make things harder for us, but it helps the game IMO.

+1 on the trip. Home field advantage won't be great because everyone will be visiting constantly.
