I think he might be underestimating how much good the extra rest does him.Faustus said:AggiEE said:
I wonder how far apart Astros were with JV
35/2 vs 43/2?
No idea if third year is a player option. But if it was only two years he'd really play for the Mets for 12M more (minus the tax advantage for Houston)?
Find it hard to believe. JV likes to get paid more than he likes to win if so.
He probably also likes the 6-7 extra starts per year he'll get in a 5 man rotation vs 6 as far as the counting stats go. Chasing down 300 isn't going to be easy.

Astros assistant general manager Bill Firkus said Jim Crane is not going to attend the winter meetings. Firkus called Crane "the final decider" on baseball operations moves and deferred mostly to Crane's prior comments about the team's priorities this offseason.

Been saying for awhile Murphy is the catcher they should be targeting. Of note, his numbers at his home ballpark in Oakland (.684 OPS) have always been among his worst (.820 OPS on road). Getting out of there could really boost his value. Also won AL gold glove in 2021. https://t.co/43lfZ7Lcfg

We've got some weird undeserving retired numbers that did far less for the organization than JV, so I'm not mad at anyone that wants 35 retired…
He will always be an H-town hero for his contributions, but the dude basically played three seasons for us and I don't think anyone that plays three seasons for a franchise should have their number retired.
That's part of my reasoning.Mr.Bond said:Prosperdick said:I can definitely see Carlos as a cub. In fact, now I'll be surprised if it doesn't happen.Farmer1906 said:NEWS: #Cubs met with Carlos Correa today, source confirms @MLBBruceLevine report. @MLBNetwork
