Dusty Baker said the Astros will meet with Wilson Contreras and have interest.

We need to stop acting like Houston is the only place that wins. Mets won 100 games. They have an owner committed to winning.

No one is arguing that he wasn't awesome when he played. Maybe the best Astro pitcher ever. Who am I to say whose number should be retired, but my vote is no. You've got to make more than 102 starts to get your number retired.
What a run by Justin Verlander in Houston:

61-19, 2.26 ERA, 0.83 WHIP in 102 starts
2 Cy Young Awards
1 Cy Young runner-up
300-strikeout season
ALCS MVP
3rd no-hitter
3,000th strikeout
2 World Series titles

Why would the Phillies pay that for Turner instead of Correa?

Turner is much more diverse on defense. They have Bryson Stott as a young shortstop, wouldn't surprise me to see Turner ply OF, 2B, etc.

The Astros lost Justin Verlander but don’t worry, they have a clone of him waiting.

Correa is younger and doesn't rely as much on speed
That Turner contract is terrible imho
That's a very good point about folks upset that he won't retire in an Astros uniform. Back when we hadn't won **** I was crushed when Nolan went into the HOF as a Ranger and super excited when Biggio and Bags were inducted.Nino Brown said:We're from Houston. I agree with thisVerlander will have the rare distinction of being one of the few players to have his number retired by two different organizations. No one should ever wear 35 in Houston again.

Outside of the Dome to date, we don't pray to buildings or worship humans. We thank them, we remember them, some get retired numbers.
But for the most part we tear down, and rebuild. Love JV, but could give two ****s if his number is retired or not. He was a very high priced visitor with a spank-able wife and I appreciate his time and assistance.

I wonder how far apart Astros were with JV
35/2 vs 43/2?
No idea if third year is a player option. But if it was only two years he'd really play for the Mets for 12M more (minus the tax advantage for Houston)?
Find it hard to believe. JV likes to get paid more than he likes to win if so.
That's because the whole steroid, Pete Rose, black sox, pitchers scuffing and other bs just makes me not care about the Hall or retiring a number.Prosperdick said:That's a very good point about folks upset that he won't retire in an Astros uniform. Nowadays I just don't care that much about who wears what in the Hall. I only care about creating dynasties.

Exactly. Clyde Drexler's number would not be retired if he weren't from Houston.Harry Dunne said:

We've got some weird undeserving retired numbers that did far less for the organization than JV, so I'm not mad at anyone that wants 35 retired…
He will always be an H-town hero for his contributions, but the dude basically played three seasons for us and I don't think anyone that plays three seasons for a franchise should have their number retired.
