Arlington has some great pitching prospects as well. I wouldn't have given deGrom 5 years, but good for him getting that deal. Looking forward to that matchup especially since it never happened in 2022.

But I agree. Odo is in the same range as Peacock, Fiers, McHugh, Fister, Feldman and other back end of the rotation guys we had before our rotations became insanely good.

That's something I'd be willing to trade Urquidy for.
If JV walks I don't want to trade any more starting pitching. We are in good shape but despite it feeling that way right now these guys don't just grow on trees.

This would get laughed at. Would you trade Tucker for Urquidy straight up? To get something THAT good with 3 years remaining would hurt. It's going to take a package you don't want to give up.

I was originally thinking that we were waiting to fill the GM position because 1) the guy we want isn't available yet or 2) he wants to give it a try himself with Bags, etc as advisors.
But I wonder if it's simply because Click's contract was technically through 12/31 and we'd owe a severance or some other compensation if replaced before then.

If I'm the Pirates, Javier + Diaz/Lee + Melton/Gilbert would be a good ask. How willing is Crane to deal from depth... I wouldn't go that far, but it's tough. Any trade would have to hurt.
Pirates can ask for that. I don't think we'd do Javier straight up for Reynolds, but we'd probably do that same deal with Urquidy or Garcia subbed for Javier.linkdude said:

Javier's value has to be skyrocketing. For me, he's worth about 3 Urquidys.
Javier is a "don't even bother asking about guy" now. He's not being traded anywhere.

Trading Javier would be the dumbest move ever. Pitching is always >. If you have depth in pitching you trade the bottom not the top or middle.

Agree or They're going to insist on one Javier or Brown. I would prefer not to part with either. The upgrade from Chas to Reynolds isn't enough. Our offense is strong without Reynolds and his defense is worse than Chas.

If I'm the pirates I'd consider this
Urquidy, Meyers, Lee/Diaz and Alex Santos.
That's 2 of our top 10 prospects and 2 MLB ready players including a proven young starter in your rotation. Also given how our prospects have usually panned out, they'd be smart to take it.
