I believe the process has changed since Nolan got in (possibly even because of him).

It's weird to me the players don't get to choose. They could let them choose and then have a final override if it's an off the wall choice, like Boggs.

I heard someone on the radio say that he had stated he probably wouldn't be ready to play the field by the start of the season. Wherever he ends up, he's likely relegated to DH.
