Jon Gray was activated. I just want him to come back and finish the season strong and STAY HEALTHY.

Problem is that it's shaping up to be a fairly week FA market for starting pitchers. Perez would probably be the top guy if he goes to free agency. The most likely avenue to acquire starting pitching is via trades, and the problem there is that teams are reluctant to trade away controllable starting pitching....so we'll have to really over-pay to get it.

I'm kind of thinking they'll sign a couple of projects, like Kyle Gibson/Jordan Lyles were, to short term deals and hope they can pitch well enough to get us through '23, when hopefully a couple of the prospects are ready (Rocker, Leiter, Winn, Roby, etc.)

I highly doubt we go after (or are able to land) two top end starters. Teams rarely do in free agency, much less a Rangers team.

I think (hope) we might get one big splash top end guy, shore up one position player, and then have a bunch of little pieces.

The next time this team makes the playoffs I doubt will be from a roster that looks like a playoff lock from O.D., but rather a roster that plays well enough to make a splash at the deadline (ala Texas '10).

Ive been looking at FA starting pitcher list also...... Rodon is my top pick I suppose. DeGrom would be nice but I bet he comes in over $35m per yr...... all the other big names are closing in on 40. Maybe they can pull a trade

I may be wrong but I think Rodon has to opt out to be a FA....who knows if he will.

DeGrom is a fantastic pitcher, but he has such an injury history it's makes me leery.

Id say he should command $25+ for 3-4 yrs fairly easy, Would the Rangers consider him enough of an ace to go 4 yrs. Rodon, Gray, Perez ( gotta resign him right?)

I don't see Rodon opting in for another year in San Francisco. He's had a great year, should command 25-30 million a year and would likely want the long term security. I would be completely fine with giving him 25-30 for 4 years.

How does a player exercising their opt out affect their future teams pick the next draft? Is it the same as if a player declines a qualifying offer and goes to another team?

I'm sure they are treated like any other UFA, comp pick-wise

Dang, I thought the Rangers were still around 10 or so games back of .500 lol. We're 62-80. At least we're young and figuring those guys out, team seems to have a decent energy for being 18 games below .500.

The team is better than 18 games below .500. We lost several 1 run games that we never should have lost due to poor management.

I don't think Adolis was going to get there. I think he made the right play off the wall. I'd have to see it again to be sure.

Bubba was absolutely out at 2nd. Took off too soon. I thought he was safe at first and then the next few views. I eventually came to realize his foot was tagged before it got back to the bag.
