Current manager is an interim of a guy who got canned. He probably won't be manager next year.

He has the highest WAR on the team for this season
A. That's not saying much considering the garbage team we trot out there year after year.

B. He's slipped from 7th in 2021 to 30th in 2022 in his MLB ranking.

JWinTX made a decent observation. But I don't grade a free agent acquisition on 1 year, especially playing for a team as lousy as Texas. Last year he was fortunate to hit ahead of Vlad Jr. This year he's hitting in front of Seager, so it's obviously been much harder for him this year.

You're also seeing guys like Semien and Seager playing only for money. There was nothing else to play for this year. A player's performance suffers when it has to be about that given the team has no chance of competing. If we can somehow convince other decent FA's to play for a ****ty franchise next year I think both of them improve.

I don't think the franchise is seen as a ****ty franchise over the past couple of years. Also there is a very very good chance we go after a high end SP in the offseason.

Pretty certain that poster started following the Rangers in like 2019, so probably doesn't have any idea that up until about 2017 the Rangers were considered an excellent team for the better part of a decade

He has a higher WAR than Jose Altuve this year. Not saying he can't improve, but his numbers are definitely in the 'solid' category. Plenty more to ***** about ahead of this in my opinion

Maybe so. Or maybe I remember George Wright, Gary Ward, Sundberg, Larry Parrish's RBI streak, Hostetler, AO, Mickey Rivers, Oddibe and a bunch of other guys from the 80's. People as young as you are still OK being patient in hopes that a bag of dog crap turns into something worth watching. Others like me are sick of watching 40+ years of mostly garbage baseball.

We're closing in on 6 straight seasons with a losing record. Never had more than 4 prior to this. The fans deserve a specific answer on when we will make the playoffs. If ownership and management can't provide this, it's time to sell or move the franchise so we can get one that doesn't suck.

Oh for sure. We're in complete shambles. There's literally no beginning or end to the list of problems we have to address.

I've followed the Rangers for as long, or maybe longer, than you - actually since they moved from Washington. I've shared your disappointment and there have certainly been more lows than highs in the history of this franchise.

Having said that, and with very much respect, I would suggest that you have allowed yourself to become so frustrated with the past that you have lost objectivity. Your Rangers' glass is eternally half empty. I still have some concerns for the future, mostly related to ownership, but I'm extremely encouraged by what I've seen organizationally since CY came on board...in particular our drafts have been stronger, and the emphasis on the type of players we are targeting has changed to more of what I have been wanting to see for years.

I'm sorry, but the Rangers are not "in complete shambles", and there is absolutely a beginning and end to the list of problems that have to be fixed. That's complete hyperbole, and I think you know that.

I have an Ag buddy who has reached the same place with the football team. If we were to win the NC, he would say something like "yeah, well, thanks to this year's recruitng class, we won't win it next year." When you get to that point, it's really time to walk away and find some other team or hobby to invest yourself in, because that's a pretty miserable way to go through life.

We need pitching, and at least one more solid bat. Pitching is the biggest concern IMO. We have a good (and young) foundation. The farm system is in the best shape its been in probably in 15 years. It's a rebuild, and that takes time. This is a better team than it was last year. If you can't see that, then with all due respect, it's because you're doing everything in your power to not see it.

Second that notion. I experienced something similar with my cowboys fandom. I was bought in 15/10 every year as a kid and teenager, and have become incredibly jaded and disappointed about the franchise as time has gone by. I still follow the team but I've taken a huge step back in the intensity with which I do so and I honestly believe it has helped my mental health.

That dude strikes me as an even more intensely jaded fan of the Rangers than I am of the Cowboys. It would certainly be a good decision for him to just drop the team for a year and see how he feels. If it's dragging you down that much, let it go. It can be very freeing.

Yeah, you got me beat on longevity by about 10 years. Comparing some minor frustration with Aggie football to what the Rangers give their fans is laughable.

I went to Kenny Rogers' perfect game. I literally have the "Rusty dive" bobblehead on my desk right now. I was at the Nolan Ryan Robin Ventura game. I'm not an Astros sock.

Making a statement that it's impossible to provide the fanbase with a specific timeline for success is very telling of our organization. Here is an interview Luhnow did with Jay Mohr in 2014 where he says the team will be a force in 2 years and hopefully wins a championship in 4 years. Luhnow nailed it.

To be fair, the fanbase has been taken on a bit of a roller-coaster...

2011: One out away
2012: Lost 7 of 9 down the stretch to find ourselves losing the 1-game wildcard
2013: Trade for a broken Prince Fielder, but still win 91 games... but miss the playoffs
2014: Season shot from jump street
2015: ALDS - Win the first two games in Toronto only to lose the series 3-2
2016: Best record in the league, revenge series vs Toronto. Swept.

Then the rebuild that we're just now making our way out of... That's a tough stretch for a fanbase.

Lunhow was able to make that prediction because he gamed the system better than anyone has ever gamed it before -- so much so that the draft rules were literally changed to keep from teams pulling the same bull*****

Don't get me wrong, I'd still take the title... but to be the worst franchise in modern MLB history over a 4-year span in order to amass top draft picks and bank payroll... not even attempting to field a competitive team...yeah, it wouldn't be hard at the end of that to say that in a few years the team would be a force.

The Rangers aren't nearly as inept as they used to be....not by a long shot.

See, I remember when one of our best players, 2B Lenny Randle, was traded because he sucker punched then manager Frank Lucchesi in spring training, shattering his cheekbone. I remember in '77 when we went through 4 managers in one season, including Eddie Stanky who managed one game and then quit because he missed his family. I remember when we traded away 3B Bill Madlock (led the league in hitting 4 times), Dave Righetti, Ron Darling, Walt Terrell, and a number of other players who went on to greatness with other teams, getting a minimal return. I remember when Eddie Chiles fired manager Don Zimmer and then asked him to manage a couple more games until he could decide who to make the interim manager. In '75, a helicopter than was supposed to help dry the field for opening day crashed in the outfield. In their first season, the team led the league with 166 errors. In '83, GM Joe Klein hired Dave Rader as the manager, passing on another promising candidate - the guy who didn't get the job was Jim Leyland, who went on to turn the Pirates into contenders and then won the WS with the Marlins.

It's been bad the past few years. But not as ridiculously bad as it used to be. It's all about perspective.

The Astros longevity has been frustrating. I didn't think their window would be open this long. The rangers title window was seemingly just 3 years.

The Astros longevity has been frustrating. I didn't think their window would be open this long. The rangers title window was seemingly just 3 years.
Their longevity is reflective of the fact the Rangers have decided to not compete for so long. The Rangers should have put together a winning team in 2020 and refused. If we were even competitive in 2020 or 2021, we'd have cut into their success. Might they have still won games? Sure. But, when you have the A's, Mariners, and Rangers ALL tanking, it emboldens you to extend your window.

Next think you know, you've weathered the down cycle and maintain your winning.

Why can't these teams tank when we're good? Seems like we always end up in a pennant race.

First game with young ones this Sunday sept 11 but we don't have parking pass. What are some recommendations on parking. It seems the price is start at around 25 to $30 and I would hate to pay just as much for parking as I did for my ticket cost combined ($30 total).

I bought a parking pass once and the lot I bought for was full. I'll never buy a parkimg pass ahead of time again.

For a while, I was parking in Lot L off of Road to Six Flags. The last game I went to, we parked in a private lot across from Lot D on Arlington Downs Rd. I think parking was $25 there for a Sunday game. My friend that I was meeting parked in Lot C right accros from the stadium. Parking shouldn't be an issue if you get there early enough.

We got there about 2 hours before first pitch and went to Texas Live and had lunch before the game.
