There are rumors he could pitch in late September and the playoffs, but his innings limit would definitely be an issue. He is an "ace" though if he's healthy, and I think he is difference maker.

I'm pretty critical of JD, but that this is a pretty good place to be.
Maybe... maybe not. 14 years, even at age 21 is a huge commit.Tksymm7 said:
I absolutely LOVE what the Mariners did with Julio. Lock him up for his prime years!

Tyler Glasnow (via trade) is a guy I'd be very interested in too. He's coming off of TJ, but he's a stud and Tampa doesn't usually pay their players. I believe they've already made it known that they won't be resigning him as well, or something along those lines.
Tyler Glasnow will earn $5.35M in first year of two-year, $30.35M extension with Rays (final year of arb) and $25M in his second (first year of free agency), according to a source. Deal includes significant bonuses based on Cy Young finishes.

Man, if you can get Syndergaard for $16m a year I say you absolutely do that. A local kid from Mansfield who went to DBU? Sign me up.
For some reason I thought he signed an extension when he was traded to the Phillies, but good to hear that wasn't the case. My main concern here is he's got a pretty good ERA (3.78) and WHIP (1.23) this year but I wish he could eat more innings than he currently doing. He's averaging 5.5 innings per start, which I guess isn't bad. And has 26 walks through 19 starts.
Am I crazy in thinking that $16mil would be an absolute steal for him? Not to mention he has the name recognition to at least generate some buzz.
