Elvis released by the A's today.
Classy move by the A's. Elvis has quietly been one of the better hitters in baseball since the AS break. Hope he can find a spot on a contender.

The A's don't want to pay Elvis' $15 million player option for 2023 if he reaches 550 plate appearances for the season. He is at 386 PA with 45 games left.

Why is Josh Jung still in AAA?
I read somewhere that in the new CBA, if a player finishes in the top 2-3 in rookie of the year voting, a team gains an extra draft pick. In order for Jung to maintain eligibility as a rookie he needs to remain under 130 ABs or 45 days on the active roster. They may be waiting until there are less than 45 days remaining to call him up for that purpose (I don't know when that date is.)FireAg said:

I do want to say this.
Ray Davis and Bob Simpson are complicit in where this team is today. After paying too much in 2010 and spending as required to try and continue the championship runs, they clamped down in 2017 and played a big role in driving them to where they are today.
No doubt Daniels needed to go, but seeing what Ray Davis said sounded a bit self serving.
I got news for you... the vision for Globe Life Field was not just for baseball. We do host many events year round, and those events give this organization a ton of residual income outside of baseball games and tv revenues. Those types of revenues play a part in being able to pay half a billion to 2 playersTV Casualty said:wbt5845 said:

The owners also signed off on building a terrible ballpark. It's a special events center first and a ballpark second.
Maybe it's fine for those in the good seats, but for those of us in the cheap seats it's just not very enjoyable. Always feel completely detached from what is happening on the field.
Ray Davis said that once he made decision to fire Jon Daniels, which he had made prior to firing of Chris Woodward, he didn't want the two connected. But the Daniels decision had been made before Monday.

It was time for Daniels to go. He had probably been living off of those World Series appearances for too long. Those were a decade ago.

Daniels got lazy after they pushed Nolan out…
Still think Nolan is due more credit for the WS appearances than JD…
Look, we can bicker about this all night, but what's done is done. Are you gonna invest or not?TV Casualty said:
That's a nice way of saying that the average fan experience is degraded so owners can make more money. It's a trend across all sports, not just the Rangers.
Even given those trends they still could've done something better with it. They made their decisions on the ball park and I have every right as a fan to my opinion on it.
For me I will be going to less games because the experience just isn't there for the types of seats that I purchase. I'm just one fan and it won't make a difference to them, but whatever.
I used to be able to hear the ball hit the glove and the crack of the bat on a hard hit ball. I could hear that even in the third deck of the old ballpark. Can't hear that in the cheap seats now. Even the great Chuck Morgan's voice doesn't feel right in this ball park.
I've tried to give it a chance and sat in different sections, but the visuals and sounds just make me seem so disconnected from the field. All the money in word to buy players can't replace the memories that I have from the old ballpark and how baseball used to be experienced.
Welcome to modern sports. It's the way everything is trending.TV Casualty said:

Maybe a wine mixer would improve the fan experience?
We know that. And it's small market bull**** that sucks for the fan.Mr Gigem said:I got news for you... the vision for Globe Life Field was not just for baseball. I love the new place, the biggest negative against it is you can see the old stadium you love.wbt5845 said:
I've quit listening to complaints about the new stadium. It's beautiful and a great place to watch a game.
If you have problems with asthetics or the look of the field or whatever, too bad. The vast majority of Ranger fans love the new place. And it will help us be more competitive due to more $ for the club.

I will probably only go to a game or two a year now, but that's about it. The ticket packages that I used to get with the Rangers I have now bought with the Stars. I enjoy going to Stars games over the Rangers even though it's a much further drive.
I'm just one dude, so it won't matter to the Rangers organization and that's fine. The ownership group has made their choices and I've made mine.
Yep. I complain and call it out.Mr Gigem said:I got news for you... the vision for Globe Life Field was not just for baseball.
