It was close, we didn't get a replay though.

A little microcosm if how this team will occasionally play poor fundamentals
Friday night, soft fly ball to shallow left. Duran running backwards as fast as he can, Josh Smith coming in from left. Duran calls off Smith - NONONO outfielder ALWAYS has right of way. Smith lets up - ball falls just beyond Smith.
Why is an infielder calling off an outfielder on a play like that? Just flat dumb. In the end, that's on the manager.
Just mentioned it on the Rangers postgame show. Probably figure they have a 50/50 shot to win against the A's.gigem1223 said:
Word is Arihara is getting the start tomorrow

Ironically we win a 1 run game post-Woody.
Arihara 3-6 with a 4.88 ERA at RR.wbt5845 said:
I concur. Let's go ahead and settle those guys.
Arihara has not been that good this year at RR, but he still walks almost nobody. He's gotten the home run rate down, so that's good.
I can't imagine he's a part of our future but he'll eat some innings through the end of the year.
Arihara will supposedly be sent down after tonight's start when Matt Moore is activated from the paternity list. Mathias will keep the bench warm for Josh Jung, who is tearing it up in AAA.Quote:
The Texas Rangers have purchased the contract of Kohei Arihara from AAA Round Rock and have recalled utilityman Mark Mathias from AAA Round Rock. To make room for Arihara on the 26 man and the 40 man roster, the Rangers have designated outfielder Elier Hernandez for assignment. To make room for Mathias on the 26 man roster, the Rangers have optioned pitcher Yerry Rodriguez.

Does anyone know or understand what is going on with the constantly rotating color commentator? CJ has been gone a few weeks and it's just weird not knowing who you're getting everyday. What is the strategy here?

In less depressing Rangers updates: another home run from Jung tonight. Haven't been this excited about a looming call-up in a long time.
