No, I reaaallly want to win. Perhaps not as much as you want to sniff your own farts on a message board about how much better a fan you are.
As much as I love to sniff my own farts and flex about my Astros fanhood (and believe me, I DO), I feel like I owe you one TLDR of my problem with your posts. Then I'll try to let it go and stop with my Beau-bashing.
I don't think your "error" is in observing the localized claim that our offense can go cold at times. Anyone who watched most of our games this year can see that.
It's more that you don't seem to realize that all good offenses go through cold stretches. Cold stretches aren't unique to this Astros team. Almost every team that loses in October does so because their offense went cold to some extent.
The Dodgers had the best offense in baseball this year by a wide margin. In the ALDS, they scored 1 run from the 4th inning of game 2 through the 3rd inning of game 4. Having the best offense in baseball didn't make them immune from a costly cold stretch effectively ending their season.
The Phillies had the 11th ranked offense in baseball this year and are killing everyone. How does that happen? They went cold with more frequency than the Astros did this year. The Phillies message board version of Beau Holder has probably gone into hiding (although he may have popped out for a second during g2).
There isn't much correlation between regular season offense and playoff performance anyway. Here's a quick list of the top offenses this year per fWAR and where they stand today:
1. Dodgers ELIMINATED
2. Yankees ELIMINATED
3. Cardinals ELIMINATED
4. Mets ELIMINATED
5. Blue Jays ELIMINATED
6. Astros WORLD SERIES
7. Braves ELIMINATED
8. Brewers ELIMINATED
9. Mariners ELIMINATED
10. Indians ELIMINATED
Farmer has posted a lot of stats this year comparing our offense to the best ones in the game and we're about on par with them in terms of deviation. Maybe he could repost if you missed it.
I spent a good part of this year thinking that you're a troll but you seem to be a genuine Astros fan. I'm ready for us to be best friends. Just getting tired of the "see, I told you so" around this subject. I don't see it that way.
