Here is the decision Dusty would have to defend to the world if he started Urquidy over JV.

You benched the AL Cy Young & future HOFer for a guy who hasn't pitched in a game in 4+ weeks who's rocking a 3.94 ERA, 4.60 FIP, 4.56 xERA.

Even with JV's struggles, that is not something I could ever do. What you can do, is have a short leash. JV doesn't get an extra 3 batters to settle in if he's getting rocked or walking guys.

Great view of the downtown. We were in Philly for a few days in 2009 but I didn't get to see the stadium. I'm woefully lax on my NL East stadium attendance. I've gotten to Camden, Fenway, and old Yankee Stadium on the East Coast, but oddly no NL teams at all.

I mean you're not benching him, you're pushing him back one game, which also gives him two extra days rest. He's still starting the next game.

Agreed. Not many people can blame you for going to the best pitcher in baseball, Cy Young winner and future hall of famer.

If he went with Urquidy and he didn't even get out of the first inning... man, that's something I wouldn't want to have to live with.

At the end of the day, I think you have to ride the horse that got you here and that's JV.

If they take away the travel day, do we want them to postpone it? That's harder on their pen but helps their rotation? But not really.. Nola and Wheeler can only pitch two more games either way (assuming it goes to 6) or are we concerned about Nola going 3 (1,4,7)

Yeah, I think I'm okay with that because he'd be available out of the bullpen in game 7 if he's needed which makes your bullpen even better.

Y'all are probably right though, it's probably overthinking it. I'm sure they'll roll with JV and there's a lot that would need to happen between now and then anyway.

I said this same thing back when the delay happened against the Yankees. I'm also of the firm stance than any new stadium not built on the California coast needs to have a retractable roof. No one should be forced to play baseball in early April weather in places like Minneapolis, Boston, Denver, etc., and that need only grows when it gets to be late October or early November with how volatile cold fronts in those places are.
