fivethirtyeight has us 65% to win the WS.

Game 3 : 56%
Game 4 : 57%
Game 5 : 54% (no pitchers announced, but assuming they put in Verlander and Nola, our odds will go up)
Based on JV's previous WS performances, I imagine the odds will go down. I wouldn't be shocked if Philly is the favorite in game 5
If I am Dusty JV doesn't pitch again except in relief in Game 7. I would trot out Urquidy, Luace, someone, ANYONE other than JV. or maybe its that JV can't start the game, maybe he comes in the 2nd inning and dominates?

Would happily take a 3 game sweep in Philly. Also would take a game 6 clincher because I have tickets.

I'd start him, but the minute he loses his touch I pull him. He put down 10 straight batters to start the game. That's 10 out of 27 outs I don't need to worry about from someone else.

Basically a coin-flip which feels about right. I like the pitching matchup tonight but so far the Astros hitters have done the opposite of what I expected. They've roughed up the starters but have been shut down by the BP.

I can get on board with that. Why dusty didn't yank him after he gave up 2 runs, I have no idea.

has anyone else noticed Biggio kept his prime real-estate behind home plate, but Bagwell got pushed off to the third base side.
Maybe to prevent another incident like this?

Because he's the CY Young winner this year and in New York he gave up 3 and then settled in.

It's really not that hard to understand why Dusty would trust JV to settle in after thew way he started.

barring injury, there isn't a manager in the world that would start someone over JV in game 5.

I think this is the way given his post season history. If the team is lucky enough for it to be a close out game, I definitely think it's going that way.

I'd love nothing more than for us to come out and put up 9 in the top of the 1st like we did against Kansas City in 2016. Have them exiting the park before we take the mound.

If there were ever a single best time to pray for an Altuve leadoff homer, it's tonight.

Do we not have anyone besides Mancini and Diaz for the DH spot?

I know it isn't great, but what about Dubon in center and Chas in Left? If the two guys above aren't hitting, would we not at least go with better defense and let Yordan DH??

Someone mentioned Hensley maybe DH-ing. Did anyone else read or hear about that?

Better chance we let McCullers hit than Dubon get at bats

It is what it is, but Diaz is probably the best option there.

I would assume Diaz will play left and Yordon will DH.

Current line is Astros -135 and Phillies +115, Vegas thinks this is basically an even match with the O/U being 8. I think it goes under and if the Astros come out like they did last game, Syndergaard gets pulled early the Stros win
-135 is implied odds of 57.5%. I'd also like to add the Astros are currently -180 (64%) to win the series on Bovada. If you happened to get the Astros on Saturday when they were down 0-1 in the series they were +105 (49%) to win the series. I'm patting myself on the back for taking the bet Saturday after that gut wrenching loss on Friday.

I got em at +110 about an hour after game 1 on Bovada, I made good on my promise to make a bet if we lost and odds swung.

Astros would never do it but Cora did start Vasquez at 1b in a 2018 WS game so he could keep his bat in the game.

Yuli could DH and if Vasquez had to catch for an injured Maldy Mancini could come in and play 1b.

But it's so outside the box it's not even a real option for us.

We have to get production for our bottom half to hurt their pen. The DH is huge for us, I wish we would have carried myers over dubon since Diaz and mancini are duds and he won't play Hensley

Diaz has good stats against Thor this season

A homer and a few hits in 6 PA

Is Vasquez an option at DH? Can he move from DH to catcher if/when needed and move someone else (Diaz or Mancini) in as DH?
TRM
How long do you want to ignore this user?

You'd lose the DH if Vasquez had to catch.
Ag_07
How long do you want to ignore this user?

In that case you'd lose the DH

At this point I'd DH Vasquez and roll the dice Maldy doesn't get injured. If he does oh well the pitcher bats.

It's no worse than what we trot out there now

Only if they are certain they can get the game in. The worse thing for us would be for LMJ to pitch 3 innings and then get game gets postponed.

Does losing the DH mean the pitcher has to bat in that spot?
