guys, the offseason thread will start next Wednesday morning. let's talk WS.
Only so much to discuss. Feels like we've covered the most important points already.

Rotation: JV, Framber, LMJ, Javier, JV, Framber, LMJ

Bullpen stays the same.

DH is the only position up in the air. Maybe Hensley gets a shot.

Pitch carefully to Shwarber and Harper and let them come up with bases empty.

Knock Wheeler and Nola out early to get to a thin pen.

Put the ball in play to test their D.

Instead of buying players they need to buy a roof for their stadium and a batting cage that can help them practice hitting pitches with spin.

That's awesome

I can see Cashman's PC now...We've decided to forego resigning Judge and instead invest in a few curveball pitching machines and a roof.

Should I be concerned with the number of lefty's in their lineup? May be some tough outs for our starters that cause pitch counts to go up faster than we'd like.

And get to our bullpen (that has allowed 14 total hits in 33 innings) even quicker?! OH NOOOOOOO

One of them will be 3/3 after this series

However both of them probably got 2023 wrong

Any year where the Mariners, Orioles, or LOL, The effing Rangers is automatically suspect.
Anything can happen in 2029 - I wouldn't call any projections of 7 years from now crazy. Here are some outliers from the standings 7 years ago (2015) :

Kansas City Royals - best record in the AL and World Series champions
Texas Rangers - AL West Champions
Pittsburgh Pirates - NL Wild Card team
Houston Astros - made the Wild Card by 1 game over the Angels
Philadelphia Phillies - worst record in baseball

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I wouldn't go crazy and overpay for JV. The Astros are loaded at starting pitching. Would you rather pay JV or put the money into someone like Rizzo?

Reasons you resign JV

* Veteran Leadership
* Keep him away from the Yankees

Basically u pay him because it's the right thing to do a d the intangibles are off the charts
He's the closest thing to Nolan Ryan we've had and I'd hate to see him still throwing no no's and breaking records with another team. I think Crane will get it done and he's invaluable in terms of providing leadership and experience, hard to put a price tag on that.

Seems that JV and Crane have a personal relationship and Crane will want to get a deal done. JV gets the Cy Young this year and makes a run at 300 wins over the next 3 years. Could still get another no hitter and Cy Young over that time. I think Urquidy and/or Garcia become trade pieces.

Maybe. Seattle had a number of lefties, though none to the caliber of Schwarber and Harper.

If that's what happened, I would absolutely start to be concerned. The more a team sees the bullpen, the better for the hitters. If the series goes long, our bullpen advantage will become less. We've seen it time and time again in a 7 game series.

It would really benefit us if the starters could go 5 or 6 each game.

The thing is the string of success that most modern Yankee fans are nostalgic about was not built this way. The late '90s/early '00s Yankees were built on a solid core of homegrown talent only bolstered not built upon free agency. Sure you can buy a Championship in baseball but it usually does not lead to long term success.

miscues dont count as a triple

They do if it's not an error. If the ball is overran or if there's a bad angle taken, I would say that counts as a miscue and would certainly be a triple.

Astros in 4 baby! I know it's not realistic at all but hey, stranger things have happened.
MVP is Yordan.
Surprise hero is Chaz (although at this point is it really a surprise).

Carlos Correa looks like he's following the A-Rod career path, and although it might sound like it, I don't mean that negatively.
They aren't really similar at all.

A-Rod took the biggest deal ever at the time for a big, but not massive like NY or LA media market.

Correa took a one year deal in a mid-sized market.
I get that, but Correa wants that deal, he just couldn't get it so far.
Feels so good, feelin' good again.

I think these two teams are evenly matched. I'll go with Astros in 7, I think the deep pitching will favor the Astros in the long run.

Series MVP: One of the Astros starting pitchers

Offensive Player of the Series - I can see Tucker stepping up this series since a lot of focus will be on Pena, Alvarez and Bregman.

Good guys in 5

MVP - The Phil's shltty defense...But seriously I'm going Bregman

Surprise prediction - Both Vasquez and Mancini come up big at some point in the series.
