It would be easier to be confident if both Verlander and Altuve weren't coming off their worst games of the season. In that regard maybe the long layoff is good for the Astros. Sure would be good to see JV look himself in the top of the first and then Altuve lead off the bottom with a extra base hit.

I love how much we are in their heads. I would absolutely play that up. The Astros should have the guy running the train do random stuff like occasionally hold up a sign or wave a towel. Maybe flash the lights in the bar out behind center. They should put random listening devices that don't actually do anything in the Yankees dugout. Convince them their every move is being watched. Maybe even have an unmarked car follow them to their team hotel.

Man I don't think I've seen you on any posts since Acie Law days. And I agree with you. I think in 2019 when Rays were complaining about whistling, the players were just ****ing with them to get them rattled and whining.

This weasel conveniently leaves out the part about MLB categorically crushing Tampa Bays complaints, releasing a statement claiming absolutely no evidence was found to support any these these wild accusations

The first Cy Young Award was given in 1956 and it was not until the 1967 season was one given to the best pitcher in each league.

Note: There was also very little movement of players between leagues until the 1970s. Free agency did not exist before the 1972 Flood v. Kuhn Supreme Court case and before then although there were no rules against it, interleague trades were rare especially involving star players.

With a seven game series instead of only five, I could see an additional pitcher being added to the roster. The 18 inning game in the ALDS might figure into this decision also. I have no insight which pitcher would be added, Dubon or Myers are the position players most likely to be left off to make this move but I think Dubon stays on the roster since he is a more versatile player.

We *probably* don't need another arm, but most teams like to have more pitching in a 7 game series than a 5 game one. Starters don't get the leash that they do in the regular season, so flexibility is key.

Wouldn't surprise me at all to see an extra arm in the pen.

Details that don't fit the narrative are left out. The one reason I did not want to face the Damn Yankees in the ALCS was how they were going to spin '17 and '19 series. If NYY wins it will be, "see they only won because the Astros cheated." If they lose, I'm sure will hear how we are still cheating somehow, someway.
