not feeling great about Castillo Game 2
Which teams do feel great about facing Castillo? He's really good. We've got horses to match him though.

Am I off in thinking this series will be more difficult and more competitive than the potential ALCS matchups?

I don't think there is a huge gap between any of the remaining AL opponents. The issue is it's only a game 5 series. The shorter the series, the more likely of "anything can happen".
Yep, these 5-game series scare me every year.

I blame Kevin Brown.

This was hilarious to read…poor Gerrit..quotes weren't back to back but best two by him in the article

Quote:

"I think it's the hardest job in the league," Cole says. "I don't think there's a harder place to be the ace. I think it's the most hunted job in the league and I think it comes with the most weight. The division is a ****ing (gauntlet). Above all else, I'm paid to keep us in the game as long as I can and take the ball every single ****ing time that I can and charge straight into the fire."

"It'd be very nice to be living at home, playing with Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani," Cole said. "I could be spending today grilling burgers and drinking beer and gambling on football games. Instead, I'm here at Yankee Stadium throwing a bullpen at 10 ****ing 40 am, but we've got the LDS coming up, and I'm pumped."

Those are real quotes?!?!

What a mental midget. Building himself up as some hero for pitching for the Yankees vs. being humble. Also, acting like 10:40 am is early to be doing your job is hilarious.

Game day. I'll be in class all afternoon so I figure to get this going now.

Rally Kate is engaged. All you lurkers and newbies need to get over it. There will be Rally TOFA and Rally AOFA all over the place for the next 3 weeks. Don't like it? The Rangers postseason thread is over there.

There's also a team every year that just seems to have that "magic." It's looking like it could be the Mariners this year. I feel like today is almost must win, so the Mariners don't get any sort of momentum.

Everyone said the Cards had that magic with Pujols and Yadi having one last run... oops. Rays have that devil magic... then they got swept. Mets 1-2 punch of Scherzer & Degromm cannot be beaten... oops.

I get what you're saying that it almost feels like a must win.

While it isn't, it's a very important game. I love that it's JV leading the series off pitching and Altuve leading off batting. They our are tone setters. I hope the both send a strong message from the start of the game.

Can you rest your head on the back on that row?

Reminds me of the first aggie game I attended as a freshman. Back in the old tacklebox and horseshoe config. I pulled freshman tickets and has no idea what good or bad was. It was either 3rd deck or 1st so I went with 3rd. Got in the stadium and started walking up. And up and up and up. They were top row seats. Nosebleed indeed.
Nosebleeds at Kyle are something else. Nothing like looking down on the birds flying or feeling like you could have jumped up and touched the flyover

What a clown. Are you pumped? Sounds like your annoyed that your not entering the off season. Just because you're the ace there does not make you an ace of anything really. It's how you carry yourself and this clown is no where near the level of JV or LMJ.

PS Give anyone a fraction of the money that he is making and they would love to be throwing a bull pen session at 10:40 am instead of what we all do on a daily basis.

He was a dominant offensive player on a team that most years had next to nothing around him. Imagine if he had stayed in St. Louis and been on those early 80s Cards teams. Almost never missed any games hurt.

From 76-85, he hit .303, .299, .315, .289, .302, .267, .275, .318, .312, .300

In 77 he had 31 2B, 10 3B, 17 HR, 87 RBI, 44 SB
In 80 he had 29 2B, 7 3B, 11 HR, 91 RBi, 36 SB
In 83 he led the league in hits (189) and had 28 2B, 8 3B, 14 HR, 92 RBI, 30 SB
and in 84, at 36 years old he scored 96 runs, had 28 2B ,13 3B, 12 HR, 95 RBI and hit .312.

I went to high school with Cruz Jr. Once Jose Sr. retired he came to baseball practice every day in one of his bad-ass antique cars and would hit for the kids to practice fielding and shag fly balls with them.

I sat up there once my freshman year and my roommate's umbrella blew off the top of the stadium during a yell. It flew so far in the wind we never actually saw it land.

If my memory serves correctly, Kevin Brown struck out 87 batters in 2 games and had an ERA of -7.00 during the 98 NLDS.
