Going to take a wild shot... did Phillip Humber start that game?Quote:
including 19 to Cleveland in April, in a game we trailed 14-0 after 1-1/2 innings.
Semien is getting 1.6 for his dWAR compared to Altuve's (-1.2) dWARW said:
speaking of off-days...
here's reason #10,581 why the WAR metric doesn't make sense or is misleading or both.
according to baseball reference...the 5th best position player in the American League this season is...
Marcus Semien (5.7 WAR)
lol what?
he's had a disappointing year. And was just awful in the 1st half while the Rangers were trying to stay in contention. He's had a great (and meaningless) September to clean up his numbers.
Altuve is not in baseball reference's top 10 for the American League.
so according to WAR...the Astros would have been better off in 2022 with Semien as their second baseman
Ouch on the defensive runs saved.Farmer1906 said:
BWAR uses defensive runs saved.
Semien - 11
Altuve - (15)
It also uses baserunning runs. I don't know where they give that but Statcast has an equivalent.
Semien - 6.6
Altuve - (0.4)
Altuve fails spectacularly here. That's why Semien closes the gap value wise.
Even with Altuve's shortcomings he's up big on Semien in FWAR. 6.3 vs 4.2.
From the @astros: Effective today, the Astros have recalled outfielder Jake Meyers from Triple A Sugar Land, General Manager James Click announced. Additionally, Yainer Diaz was optioned to Sugar Land and then subsequently placed on the Major League Taxi Squad.

I could honestly see Meyers make the postseason roster for his speed alone
I was just thinking the same. We will need that in several series, no doubt.CFTXAG10 said:

Hensley should be ahead of him in line
DRS is kind of sketchy stat. It involves people reviewing plays. OOA is better.Faustus said:Ouch on the defensive runs saved.Farmer1906 said:

I had no idea it was that bad.

He's not an offensive and defensive liability. If you pinch run, you need a defensive replacement. You burn one less player by having someone you can sub in if you have to pinch run for someone who isn't a catcher.
Doesn't he play LF? If we start Mancini in LF at any point, then Hensley has got more speed than Trey. Based on recent results, he can probably hit better than Mancini too.Farmer1906 said:You think he plays a better OF?EastCoastAgNc said:Farmer1906 said:Why? To clarify, Carlos Correa was asked whether the #MNTwins should lock him up long term. He’d been asked if he had decided to opt out, which he said he hadn’t yet. pic.twitter.com/u6lBpgMaDk

A dude comparing himself to something at the Dior store is pretty much the definition of diva.Farmer1906 said:88Warrior said:

How does this make him a Diva. He asked about it and he answers. He doesn't want a 3 year deal, he wants a long term one.
