Hard to believe at one point you had to win the division to make the playoffs. Many teams season were over by the end of May.
And the old NL West was us, LAD, SF, SD, ATL and Cincy. West my ass. That was brutal. Between the 70's Reds and Dodgers we were dead men walking.
This is the division I grew up with and the teams I considered our rivals; especially LA, Cincy, and later on SF.

By comparison the NL Central never REALLY felt like the Astros' division to me, with only StL (solely because of those two NLCSs) ever feeling like an actual rival.

With the greatest era of Astros baseball now having taken place in the AL West... I have little nostalgia for the NL Central.

We're 2 games ahead of the 2019 team's pace (97-51 vs 95-53). That team finished 12-2 to land at 107-55.
