Wish we would get an upgrade and first but just don't see click wanting to mess up the comrade in the locker room. So he needs to go get a lefty arm and quality outfielder at the deadline.

I don't think it's mess anything up if he gets Josh Bell.

If it's marginal upgrade then I could see it being an issue but if you bring Bell this team would get a shot in the arm and I think they'd be OK with it.

Pretty sure that puts us at 4-2 on the season against the Yankees and guarantees the regular season series win against them. This could be important for playoff seeding/positioning if it's close record-wise in the end.

I'm gonna give Yuli a bit of a break here. Yes, he struck out on pitches that were not strikes, same as Chas. The pitcher had some pretty filthy movement running back in on them both. Yuli had the right idea to try and inside-out the ball to the right side, but with 2 strikes it was an uphill fight.


Having said that...I will not be upset if we acquire a 1B that can hit with some power

I don't necessarily think that acquiring Bell (or another 1B) means Yuli has to go, so I'm not too concerned about the locker room aspect. If he figures his sh*t out, we could still work him into the lineup in various ways.

And it would actually give us some interesting optionality when Brantley gets back. We'd have four guys (Yordan, Bell, Yuli and Brantley) that we could integrate into three positions using various combinations (1B, DH, and LF).

For example, if Yuli figures it out and Brantley is slow to return from injury, you could do a lineup with Yordan in LF, Bell DH and Yuli at 1B.

He's a highly revered guy for Cuban players. It might be managable if they don't let him go completely.

Let's all marvel at the early career of JJ Matijevic. First big league hit is a homerun. Not long after that he turns around 100 in Yankee stadium for a monster homer for hit number 2. Then, after a handful of games doing regular stuff comes off the bench to beat the Yankees in a 9th inning walk off.

Well, we wouldn't let him go completely. But our guys aren't dumb. They are highly competitive and want to win. They see Yuli falling off.
