Glad Altuve getting the time off to heal/rest to be honest . This team has much bigger fish to fry than All Star appearances.
I have to think the Yankees are in on that, especially if they think they can't resign Judge. Any chance we pursue this? Probably takes our top 5 prospects to even get in the door. All I do is Nguyen said:
Juan Soto just turned down a 15 year $440 million deal with the Nats who are now looking to trade him.
He must really want out of Washington lol

Front offices are already having the conversations: What is it going to take to acquire Juan Soto in the wake of him turning down a 15-year, $440 million contract offer from the Nationals? And the answer is: The biggest trade package ever. “A Herschel Walker deal,” one GM said.

McCullers is throwing this live BP right now at Minute Maid Park https://t.co/kSDTPwMbTx

Man if we got Soto we'd be unstoppable.
Don't know if we would be willing to give up pretty much our top 3 prospects for him though.
It would likely take something like Leon, Lee, Brown, Meyers, and Urquidy/Javier.
Don't think I'd be willing to pay that but I'd be open to re-working it a bit.
I wouldnt be willing to move Lee, Brown or Javier.
But any other prospect would be fine if it meant getting Soto.
Can confirm @Ken_Rosenthal’s report that the Nationals offered Juan Soto a 15-year, $440 million deal that he turned down. And as Ken said, that makes the Nationals more likely to entertain trade offers (now and in the future).

There were no deferrals in the Nationals’ latest offer to Juan Soto — or any offers this spring/summer — as @Ken_Rosenthal mentioned today and we reported on the previous discussions.

What’s required for any interested team: Very good farm system, aggressive general manager, high-spending owner who’s fine with the next two arb years (escalating from $17.1 mil for 2023, then again in 2024) AND could make a realistic effort to keep Soto beyond his team control.

Juan Soto just talked with a few reporters here in D.C. Said he’s not happy this came out because, as he put it, he’s someone who likes to keep things private. Also said it’s uncomfortable going into the all-star break but he’ll deal with it. As somber as I’ve seen him.

McCullers said he threw upwards of 40 pitches in two simulated innings, mixing all his pitches, with about 15 breaking balls. Feels confident in his stuff and his health. Astros will see how he bounces back tomorrow to determine next steps. Could be a rehab game.

We'd have to include Tucker for Soto

If Tucker has told the team he wants to go to Free Agency then I would do it.

Jose Altuve just said he’s going to be in the lineup today at designated hitter.

I love Tucker and it pains me to say this, but Soto is a level above.tjack16 said:bearkatag15 said:tjack16 said:

To me that's like trading the same player for each other.
I'm just imagining an outfield of Brantley, Tucker and Soto. With Alvarez as a DH.
Astros lineup Saturday vs. A's:
— Danielle Lerner (@danielle_lerner) July 16, 2022
Jose Altuve-DH
Jeremy Pena-SS
Alex Bregman-3B
Kyle Tucker-RF
Aledmys Diaz-2B
Yuli Gurriel-1B
Jake Meyers-CF
Chas McCormick-LF
Martin Maldonado-C
RHP Justin Verlander

Trading away the pieces it'd take to get Soto would go completely against the culture that's built the Astros. Don't know about you guys, but I like watching them compete for 6 years straight and don't want it to stop.
I agree.halfastros81 said:

Tend to agree. You get one extra year with Tuck but he's not near the level of a hitter (though much better defensively). The Nats probably want more control though.BCSGrubber said:

Yeah if it takes a few top prospects like the Greinke trade, sure do it. But no trading away current pieces IMO.
I personally don't see us getting Soto. I'm worried the Yankees will though

Then they won't be signing Judge

This. Plus Soto turned down a 15 year $440MM offer, I can't see them bringing in a guy that thinks that price is too low. They have a system that works, don't stray from the path.agdaddy04 said:
