He's a b-level arm in the bullpen. He's not consistent with his command. It's really on dusty for putting him out there in a close game and asking him to throw back to back nights (though there wasn't much of a choice, the six man rotation kind of backs them into a corner in these types of games).

As far as you having an issue with my posts, if you don't like it, there's a wonderful ignore feature you can take advantage of.

Losing Johan Santana in the rule five draft is pretty bad in hindsight. He would've been a star on the early aughts teams.

I still defend this one. He had something like 1000 plate appearances over 3 years. He was worse each year too. 103 to 88 to 75 wRC+. No one could have predicted a change in hitting coaches would turn him into an elite masher.

The Lofton trade in 91 for Eddie Taubensee. WOOF.

The Astros had Steve Finley in CF at the time. Imagine a line up through the 90s with Lofton, Budge, Baggy, Caminiti and Gonzo.

Schilling for Grimsley. Just imagine, we destroyed the Orioles in the Davis trade then traded away the two best players (Schilling and Finley).

The PR hit was abysmal and Nolan going off with a 16-10 record, 301 K, and an All-Star game start in '89 was like walking on glass. Although it probably did speed up McMullen selling the team.

How about the time we decided to protect Richard Hidalgo instead of Bobby Abreu in the expansion draft?

Of course then the Rays traded Abreu for Kevin Stocker.
