Put a blue star in that one! Jake flashing the leather!
Have you read Ron Luciano's books about umpiring? I think they are mostly from the 80s.redline248 said:I also once read a Tony Gwynn article where he took us inside 2 or 3 At Bats vs Maddux that resulted in hits and how Maddux was pissed by the 3rd one.helloimustbegoing said:
Great cat and mouse by JV to get that last strikeout. I always wonder how in tune he is to setting up the whoel at-bat to get that pitch that he knows is irresistible.
Year and years ago, SI did a brilliant piece with Greg Maddux describing every single pitch he threw for a game, and the how and why of how they picked it. WOuld love to see something like that from JV.
I love that kind of stuff
His average just skyrocketed from .095 to .107!linkdude said:

Not great JV today
I picked him up in Fantasy a few weeks ago. He's won 3-4 low-scoring games in a row. Destroyed the Dodgers a couple of weeks ago with 10 K in 6 innings, but the two wins since that were both vs. Miami so not exactly the ironclad resume. Only given up 3 homers in 65 + innings this year.redline248 said:
Who is this no name pitcher going toe to toe with JV?

Speaking of that Yankees double header, has there been any info released on that day? I assume with it being a day/nigh DH they'll try to clear the stadium between games?
Thinking of taking that afternoon off and grabbing tickets.
