Tonight sucked, but prior to that Pressly had only given up 5 earned runs all year (20 appearances). So he basically doubled it in his worst outing this year.

He has a higher whip and baa than we'd like, but has still converted 14 of 17 save opportunities. He just needs to get back to throwing strikes. I'm not sure replacing him is actually a priority, or if there are even many guys that are upgrades.

The ump can't be completley blamed for this loss, but I can't wait to see the ump scorecard for this one. I know I'm biased, but it certainly felt like every single borderline call (and some very wrong ones) went the Yankees way in last night's game. Didn't some stats come out a fews ago showing they receive the highest % of favorable calls of all teams?

Not that I don't want a better closer or an improvement at CF, but in 2017 Aoki and Jake Marisnick combined for almost 600 plate appearances and our closer was Ken Giles.

The Yankees starting CF & LF are combining for a sub- .650 OPS so far. They have a 29-year-old first time closer with a career ERA over 4. He's pitching great no doubt, but the wheels could fall off at any minute.

Yes I'd still like to improve at closer and CF, but I think a lot of people are super critical of our roster while not realizing that every team in baseball has its issues, even the few ahead of us at the standings.

And before someone posts Ken Giles gaudy 2017 regular season stats, any real Astros fan knows he was an empty stats head case that could not be trusted at all in big situations.

Yep. That's why we had starting pitchers closing out the 2 biggest games of the postseason! ALCS G7 and WS G7

Stros hit one of NYY's early season pitching stars fairly easily.

Solid performance by Framber, he could've gone 7 if not hosed by the ump.

Frustrating loss, yet it's June 24th, Pressley has looked iffy this season regardless of stats

No problem with stocking up on pitching at deadline

I mean, congrats to the Yankees on their June championship.

Press didn't look right from the first pitch. I remember him looking down at the mound like he wasn't comfortable with his landing spot. Just never did find it and Hicks sat on the FB.

He probably did. But there wasn't a damn thing he could have done about it. 3 batter minimum.

With last night's 0-4 Siri, in June, is 3/33, .091, 4 R, 2 RBI, 1 HR, 1BB/11K. Not great.

However, Chas, in June, is 5/29, .172, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 HR, 4BB/11K. Also pretty terrible. Basically just one 2-4 game better in average.

It's no stretch to say Jake is about to eat into one of these guys playing time by a hefty margin. With any luck he'll be more productive. He certainly can't be worse.

Do you carry Chas for a little more help in the PH department, or keep Siri for late inning defense?

Personally, I think Siri is a better "4th OF" due to defense and pinch-running. You need the primary guy/starter to provide some offense; I don't think it should be the priority consideration for the full-time backup. That's why I've always felt like Chas would be the odd man out.

I can't believe they didn't have Siri try to bunt more for an infield single. All he has to do is angle it towards 3rd and he was gonna make it to first.

It wasn't gonna matter who was pitching.

Once they tied it up with 0 outs then the top of the order rolled around with 1 out I knew it wasn't going to extras.

There was no way they weren't gonna score one more with our BP scrambling to get guys ready after Pressly's bed wetting.

This. I was pissed when he didn't bunt and then proceeded to weakly pop up the first pitch.
