Though admitting to being nervous when Pressly comes in to close tight games, he did just wipe the Mets away the other day and had a couple of fastballs hit 96, fastest of the year and vintage stuff if I remember correctly. . When he is on he has really nasty stuff.
Last night I think he was trying to over pitch, and I feel that he does not have confidence in his stuff some time and loses command, that happens sometimes.
There was a time where if you threw 99 or 98 with any off spead pitch, you could just blow folks away. Not any more, hitters are better. They have access to virtual tech that and high res vids where you can study pitchers very closely looking for any slight tell.
This type of stuff did not exist a few years back. The game is suffering from over tech in IMHO>
When I was a young man I was a sailor, there was a class of boat called the 420. It was huge fleet then they started making high tech changes to give an edge to people with money destroyed the class within 5 years as it only became more about who had the latest and most cutting edge tech and not about who was the best sailor. Pro sport is heading this way across the board, but nothing like baseball.
