Astros - Losing 6-0

I have yet to see one of 4 teams that I support score today…that's absolutely brutal.

I am not panicking, our pitching is going to remain strong. Can it continue as it has? Tough, But you would think that our hitting cannot continue to be this putrid, and that is what it is putrid.

I didn't realize Maton's home/road ERA splits were so drastic. Home ERA is 0.00 and Road ERA is 6.10

As great as his defense is, I think we have to give strong consideration to platooning Yuli and getting a better offensive first baseman. He's broken on offense and shows no signs of overcoming it. I don't know who the guy was who wore his uniform last year and won the batting title, but this isn't him.

Yes to center field. Get a corner outfielder and let Tucker play center or get a real center fielder.

Bregman is making way too much money to be as inconsistent as he is (not saying trade him, he just needs to stop overthinking everything).

Catcher is somewhere I think we are stuck with maldy as the #1 guy. I think Castro has to go and either call up Lee or trade for a serviceable backup who you can pinch hit and sub late in games.

Edit: I know I'm give catch some heat for the yuli take, but it's just not tenable anymore offensively

Other teams figured our guys out. Bregman and Yuli are line drive hitters. And pitchers have learned how easy it is to get them to either pop up or hit weak grounders. That's why Bregman is an automatic double play. And our guys show no signs of being able to adjust. They would need to completely overhaul their swing mechanics to attack more upward at the ball. Not going to happen. Their only hope is that pitchers fail to execute.

It's still May. We are in first place and have the second best record in the AL.

Yes, there are some issues right now, but it's a long season.

Will be ok. Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. We just need to get to October to compete.

The CF position will work itself out when Meyers comes back. He was clearly the best of the 3 options last season.

Right now Castro is fairly worthless. Might be worth it to try and trade him if he even has value. Then you call up Lee.

I think it would be dumb to trade any of our MLB guys away. The only exception is when Meyers comes back, it might be worth it to trade Siri or Chas to get an arm, but I see them as having a lot of upside as well.

I've been all over the place busy the last couple days. Did we really only score 1 run in the last 2 games?

in the month of May...he's 8 for 57 at the plate. That's a .140 batting average.

May OPS is .591

and looking at his numbers from last year...the problem is evident:

in 2021...Chas had 73 hits...of which 26 were x-base hits.

in 2022...he has 26 hits...of which 14 are x-base hits.

I've been saying this for a couple of weeks. It's the whole team. We rank 22nd in BA, 8th in SLG and 4th in HR. Some of it is the extreme pull hitters and shift. Bregman, Tucker and Yordan are defensive shift headcases.

Isn't being a line drive hitter the goal to prevent being a 3 true outcome hitter?

I think Yuli is becoming more of an age thing and I think Bregman is more of a pull thing. Breggy has shown some power the opposite way - would be nice to see that be his approach.

The amount we would have to give up to get him would be suffocating.

Tim Anderson just got hurt and had to be helped off the field. If he's seriously hurt, that's gonna be bad for the White Sox
