Yeah Click hasn't done anything really wrong except overpay for Odorizzi as a knee jerk reaction to Framber's finger injury. In fact I think Click has done really well overall
I don't know, he has been very reactive to things and it's almost like he places very little value on the CF position.
He shored up the bullpen at the deadline and then let those pieces walk and while the BP has been doing pretty well, tell me it doesn't scare you without a Graveman/Garcia in there.
I'd love for him to prove me wrong, but right now, Click feels like he is closer to Tim Purpura 2.0 than being in Luhnow's league or even Gerry Hunsicker's.
Already listed LMJ extension, Yuli extension for cheap, Brantley resigning. All are very positive.f1ghtintexasaggie said:bearkatag15 said:

Don't forget Baez...
Montero has been a pleasant surprise this year, and Graveman was solid for us last year. Probably won that trade as it stands now, but other than that, I struggle to list any major accomplishments or long term improvements to the team (or farm, for that matter) attributable to him. JV was Crane's decision.

That and the Baez signing were the only real missteps.
Extending McCullers, signing JV, rebuilding the bullpen at the deadline, Stanek signing, all pretty good so far.
Too early to tell on the signing Neris signing and Pressly extension, but so far so good.
Nothing like a loss to bring out the morons.
Dang… I'm a moron now?
I'm assuming that was in response to who Bearkat and I were responding to.

Little value? He targeted Sterling Marte in the offseason, not a SS.
He traded away Straw because he wasn't cutting it and we had better options in the minors or on the bench. 3 of them.
The fact he didn't sign Springer is likely a good thing. His age 31 season was mostly Injuries. 32 is yet to see seen. Pretty soon the Jays are going to overplaying a declining player.

You absolutely wanted to get lefties in there with Romano. Look at his career splits.
I just don't like doing it with the rookie in his first ever AB with 2 outs in the 9th. Castro for Maldy all day long.
Wait a second. He's a reverse split guy? Holy **** Dusty.
Yep. It's like he immediately thinks an opposite hitter is the best matchup, but never checks on it. All depends on what kind of stuff they have.Farmer1906 said:bearkatag15 said:Dusty said he wanted two lefties up. https://t.co/r3YEahzhoc

Lol. Im confused doesnt that show lefties are worse against their closer?
Thats exactly what it shows (that's what reverse split in his post means). Meaning Dusty was even dumber than originally thought.Ags #1 said:

Dusty Baker said he hit Castro/Matijevic in the ninth because "the guy was extremely tough on righthanders and the numbers were in favor of the lefthanders.”

RHBs have a career .711 OPS against Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano. LHBs have a .476 career OPS against him.

Lol. I bet Dusty has no idea what the splits were on that guy.

OK, Astro Ags. Take tomorrow off- get yourself a rainout if necessary, clear your head, smoke em if you got em, visit the Rangers thread for some vicarious comfort, buy a new rally brew, and show up ready to mash on Friday night. We got this.
Will be there Friday night
JV pitching - calling it - Astros win
Springer return - if hbp tonight doesn't keep him out
Friday Night Fireworks - if roof isn't still broken
I think the Odorizzi disaster --- including his $6 MM option for 2023 --- cancels out at least half of this listbearkatag15 said:Resigning Yuli for pennies on the dollar...Wabs said:Buck Compton said:Did Click piss in your cheerios? Really confused what you have against him…Wabs said:
And everyone thinks the Astros weren't punished for cheating. Really? We have Baker and Click now. That's enough to sink any team.
LOL. Let's discuss his good moves over the offseason. I've got JV, and umm, umm.,,,,,
Trading Toro for Graveman and the emerging Montero...
Getting Maton for Straw looks really good so far.
Hector Neris has been good so far minus the slip up tonight...
There are a lot of positives from Click's time here.. More than negatives.
add in the signings Farmer mentions above this post as well
that was weapons-grade incompetence by Dusty tonightbearkatag15 said:Dusty Baker said he hit Castro/Matijevic in the ninth because "the guy was extremely tough on righthanders and the numbers were in favor of the lefthanders.”

Just an observation- Once JV left the game only 2 of the 9 on the field were even on the team in 2017.
