He's a meathead on a team of meatheads. But they were also a reflection of their coach whose a massive meathead. Let's see how he acts as a pro.
If he's got the Bregman 2017-2019 attitude and can hit, I'm all for it

Agent Randy Rowley says his client, Tennessee OF Drew Gilbert, has an agreement in place with the @astros. Randy declined to give the terms.

The final pick of the day -- No. 80 overall -- has the Astros taking RHP Andrew Taylor from Central Michigan in the @MLBDraft. That's Houston's compensation pick for losing Carlos Correa in free agency.

Andrew Taylor, who stands 6-foot-5 with a fastball that touches 94, went 8-4 in 17 games (15 starts) for Central Michigan last season. He had 126 strikeouts and 27 walks in 84 innings.

Brantley is going to feast next year with no infielder playing in shallow RF.linkdude said:
If you don't get elite exit velo (Bregs does not) you aren't getting back to 19 numbers without the juiced ball. Him and Brantley both are just low line drive hitters. Both can turn and burn with the right inside pitch but they just aren't power threats in these conditions.
Kumar Rocker is agreeing with the Rangers at $5.2M which is under slot for the No. 3 pick but still $460,100 more than the Mets slot at No. 10 last year. Mets passed on signing due to medical evaluation.

I wonder this as well. The draft doesn't generally dictate moves at the big league level but they probably feel better about trading Leon if they have to.redline248 said:
Might see Leon packaged in a trade?
My speculative takeaway is maybe we're unsure about our ability to re-sign Tucker after 2025. In fairness, we have alot of guys who will be due to be paid around then. And Tucker, given his age and ability to man multiple OF positions, could be in line for the type of monetary commitment that we seem unwilling to make.MaxPower said:I wonder this as well. Personally for me Tucker is worth it. I have not been a proponent of many contracts, I viewed it as next man up but I think with Tucker it is time to get it done. I felt the same about Yordan and thankfully we have that locked down.Deluxe said:My speculative takeaway is maybe we're unsure about our ability to re-sign Tucker after 2025. I'd love to see it. Sitting here today, it looks like we'll have the following obligations following the 2025 season:Lonestar_Ag09 said:Personally for me Tucker is worth it. I will also admit there was a time I didn't agree with paying Altuve and had wished we would deal him for prospects (this was around the 2015 season)...so happy to have been wrong there but Springer and Correa I did not find the value for their price tag.
Luckily the Astros don't look at critical organizational decisions this simplistically. They're going to look at it holistically. Fast forwarding to the 2025 offseason, it might make sense to give Tucker an 8/$250 deal that carries him into his age 36-37 season. It might also make sense to deploy that $$ on retaining Framber/Javier and buying out Pena's arb years instead. It's hard to say exactly what the decision factors will be at that point.Beau Holder said:
You can't have let Springer and Correa walk to NOT build around Tucker and Alvarez together.
Agreed. Lots to sort out between now and 2025. My initial post on this subject was highly speculative.MaxPower said:
I don't see us paying anyone over $200M. I suspect at this point we wait until after the 2023 season to see where we are at as an org. Do you want to keep Altuve or Alex? Is JV still here and Lance healthy or do you need some pitching help? Have we identified a C and CF? How does the farm look in terms of supplementing those positions? That may drive your plans with Tucker.
Central Michigan RHP @andrewtaylor112, taken by the @astros with the 80th-overall pick in the MLB Draft, says he has a verbal agreement with Houston and was thrilled when he heard his name called by the Astros: “It was incredible embracing all of my family members & having all…” pic.twitter.com/X28R6vcAM1
