Took a look at Diaz and Mancini's combined stats as of lately.

Mancini
3/50
3 walks / 14 Ks

Diaz
5/49 (Had a 3 hit game)
1 Walk / 8 Ks

Combined Playoffs
1/31
1 Walk / 8 Ks

Hensley (season stats)
10/29
5 Walks / 6 Ks

Yikes. Those Diaz/Mancini stats are abysmal

We need to move Chas to the 7 spot, Vasquez to 8, and DH Hensley at 9

Exactly. And JV better change his WS fortune around if he gets another start.

If the series goes far enough I wouldnt mind if we didn't start him again.

Game 2: Framber
Game 3: Javier
Game 4: McCullers
Game 5: Urquidy/Garcia/Brown
Game 6: Framber
Game 7: Javier/McCullers

Last night showed the Astros they need to put up runs in order to beat this Phillies team that, apparently, is still really hot at the plate.

I think our pitching can quiet them down. As long as we keep Verlander from starting another game and Dusty doesn't try to get too cute with the 'pen. I was very concerned about Verlander before the game simply because of his track record. Hoping for the best, expecting the worst. He simply doesn't have the stones to pitch on this stage. Some pitchers, like Charlie Morton have em. Some don't.

Look, I get your sentiment.. but this is about as dumb a take as they come. Don't give the ball to the probable Cy Young winner? Give me a break.

It still baffles me that JV went to his off speed when they couldn't make solid contact on a high fastball

He is 0-6 in eight World Series starts and has the worst ERA in World Series history and you think it's a dumb take to not want to play that guy when it counts?

The regular season means squat now, gotta go with guys who actually win big games.

Verlander is our worst starter in the playoffs by far.

He's our worst pitcher not just starter. He's given up more than half our total runs. 12 out of 21

I'd take the out that he never came back healthy and shut him down. He's a total liability right now

Good point. Do anything to save face but do not let him throw another pitch.

He lost us the World Series in 2019 and is well on his way to doing it again by making game 2 a must win. If we do somehow come back from his epic collapse we cannot give him another chance to blow it

There's 0 chance JV doesn't get the ball again if we make it to 5. 0.

I get the frustration but just realize it's never going to happen. He will get his chance to redeem himself. Being the gamer that he is my bet is he gets it done.

But for those of you scoring at home, there is 0 chance Dusty Baker sits a healthy JV.

Oof. Late game. No sleep. Depression.

And now I'm out in the wind, cold and wet dealing with soccer games.

What a crappy 12 hours this has been.

So that's what it feels like to lose a playoff game. That sucked

But I predicted a split of these first two games anyways. Just need to go out and win tonight and we're back on track.

Philly is really rop heavy. Once you get past Harper there's not anyone who scares me.

And WTF Altuve. I don't know what's wrong with him but it's beyond bad.

It doesn't matter. He's going to get the start. 0% chance they skip him.

The deal is to have him on a short leash. Can't respect him like he's regular season JV and expect him to come back once the wheels start to fall off.

If Dusty would have treated him like anyone else, he would have been pulled on time and we probably win 5-3 & are not even having this conversation. Maybe even complaining about Dusty's early hook.

Makes you have a little more grace for Hinch in 2019.

So is this a bullpen game or are those three options to start rather than JV? If it is a committee game why not give your Cy Young winner a chance but have him a very short leash?

Except Diaz's was a ball, trouts was actually a strike. I'm not really angry about the Diaz call, minus the fact that it's never called, this is just more evidence of that

I am done bit***** about yesterday. This team DGAS. They have tasted a loss for the first time in the playoffs. It is a reminder Philly is here for a reason too. They crushed the Braves and Padres.

I tend to believe our club isn't a bunch that folds like a cheap card table. They are going to nut up and win tonight. According to the NOAA, Hurricane Framber is steadily brewing and gaining strength. Projected landfall is set for 501 Crawford St. at 7:03pm. Time to sack up! Go Stros!

All of Sean's takes are on point - I would add you can't give Diaz or others like him the green light on 3-0. Alvarez, Tucker… that's fine.

Make theirs pitchers work tonight - take some pitches. None of this 8 pitch inning stuff.

Ugh. Starting the playoffs Altuve is 4-37. After game 1 against Seattle Yordan has been 3-28. And the DH position which is supposed to be a hitter is a combined 2-34.

We have 9 hits in 99 ABs out of 3 positions that should be hitting .300 with production.

Makes you wonder how we got this far.
