reading the article on the Yankees...

apparently NYY has a couple of highly regarded middle infield prospects who would be much, much, much cheaper than Correa. And who might be ready by next season.

ultimately the Yankees may be deciding between Correa and Judge --- can't give both of them a mega-contract

Taking my fan cap off and thinking like a GM. Are the Astros better off with option 1 or 2 if these were the only moves we make.

Option 1: re-sign Carlos Correa

Option 2: sign Trevor Story and Jorge Soler

and what happened to the Yankees...

Gio Urshela and Gleyber Torres...like many players...have turned out to be charter members of the 1819 club.

guys that put up great stats in 2018 & 2019, but haven't come close to those numbers since.

also similar to Judge, both of them have monster career numbers vs. the Orioles...and average to below average numbers against the rest of the division

Cohen spending like there's no tomorrow

Just watched an interview with him at camp. He isn't scared of spending, and I suspect they will continue. I will say this, as a baseball fan, I'm not sure it's a good thing to "buy" teams, as a Mets fan and coming out of the Coupon years, it's refreshing to know money won't be a reason something didn't get done.

I do believe the spending of this magnitude is temporary. I think his idea is to spend now to get a competitive product right, now but long term is to build from within and supplement any needs with spending.
