Womp womp, sorry Rangers. I actually would have liked to see him in Arlington. Tie up money and sit on the IL for four months.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.

Potential landing spots: Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Phillies, Cubs, Blue Jays.

Cubs appear out. Are the Tigers still sniffing around? Would he really sign long term with Baltimore?

I feel like it's starting to point to him returning to Houston…just feels like that's the direction we're headed. Again, nothing but gut feeling, but I think Carlos re-signs here.

I'm all for players cashing in, but I'll wish Carlos nothing but gloom, despair and agony if he signs with the Yankees.

I think we all knew Cole to the Yankees was gonna happen. If Correa did that, most in Houston would consider him a traitor.

I'm calling BS on NYY. They always think they're getting everyone.

Andrelton Simmons is the misshapen genetic clone that emerged when they combined the DNA of Ted Simmons, Andre Dawson, and Terry Pendelton.

Freeman and Kershaw signing with LAD and Correa with NYY would mean this whole fight over a lower CBT was just show dressing.

I'd still give him a standing ovation. He'd only leave because we didn't offer him the best deal. And he'd have left on good terms with class.

How so? Two notorious big spenders spending big doesn't mean the other teams are okay with it

I can handle him signing with other teams, just not the Yankees or the Dodgers. It's like joining the Dark Side or Voldemort, you are now the enemy.

I agree with this.

Truth be told, I have always thought he was kind of a ****. He won me over these last couple of years, and I'm sad to see his production go and will always be thankful for 2017, but I won't miss him the way I do George or CFM.

For me, he's in the Cole category. It'll be easy to hate him on the Yankees or Dojers.

I'd be very upset if he went to New York or LA. But if our owners don't offer him the best deal then I can't fault him for going to whoever offers.

It's different than Cole because Cole did his whole "I'm a free agent I don't have to talk to you" while wearing his Boras hat after game 7 2019.

I guess for me it begs the question of what the CBT limit is for.

Most teams are nowhere close to it and never get close to it. Raising it or arguing it shouldn't go it is a non issue for them. It's a meaningless cap.

A few teams like the Astros are close to it and it is effectively a cap. They can go over but the penalties are more than they can afford. For them it's really a deterrent.

And a few teams like LAD or NYY (and NYM) just don't care. It's not a deterrent to control spending at all. And because of that you have teams that can spend whatever they want and build mega teams. That also means contracts go up across the board.

The owners just spent 99 days *****ing and moaning about not wanting to raise the CBT. Of course it's more than that but the CBT was a big sticking point. And effectively it's meaningless.

Where you are wrong is about it being a non-issue for teams not close to it. The lower it is, the more teams are in running for free agents and lower it is means more money distributed

The way those teams talked about him and his teammates and the way he in return talked about them should make them absolute non starters. Those two being willing to pay just a little more should never be a consideration. Sometimes it take being a hard ass and putting your money where your mouth is. No matter what he is offered it is all funny money so it's not like it is even that hard to have a backbone.

I only recently gained a liking for him when he stood up to everyone so if he goes to those team he loses every bit of that and some because it shows it meant nothing to him.
