There still will be some tweaks but the luxury tax penalties will be similar to the last CBA: 20%, 32% and $62.5%
— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) March 1, 2022
The two sides still have to finalize luxury tax thresholds with tweaks to smaller issues before a deal is reached.

It is now midnight and no one is moving as the two sides moving ever so closer

According to this report, the Orioles could be considering a 10-year $350 million contract for Carlos Correa. I'll believe it when I see it. But obviously O's fans like myself would be quite excited about such a move and the statement it sends to starving fans here in Charm City. https://t.co/CWUK3SwKWY

MLB's numbers still aren't there from player standpoint but sides still described as inching closer on some core issues per source.

While talks are ongoing, players and owners are agreeing to move ahead with plans for a 12-team playoff field as first reported by @BNightengale

Reminder: No agreement can be reached without the approval from 23 of the 30 ownership groups. The luxury tax threshold, which was $210 million last year, still remains an issue.

Current plan is to stay in the stadium and keep talking until a deal is done. Determination to finish this exists.

Significant progress has been made in these 15 hours of talks, but several hurdles still need to be resolved before a deal can be consummated before breakfast.

There will be no deal on a new collective-bargaining agreement in this early hour, sources tell ESPN. Enough progress was made that MLB and the MLBPA will meet again later today in hopes of finalizing one. Deadline to miss regular-season games has been moved to 5 p.m. today.

So if tax threshold is $210M, how much room remains for the Astros?
Shift restrictions have entered the discussion. MLB and players are hitting on everything, which may not be a bad sign.

Maybe they should institute a 10th fielder for roving. How about everyone gets at least 1 at bat each game including bull pen guys. Oranges after the game? Small replica trophies for everyone that doesn't make the playoffs?EastCoastAgNc said:Shift restrictions have entered the discussion. Give left handed batters the choice to run to third base after hitting the ballFarmer1906 said:
I am all for letting everything play wherever they want, but I fully understand why some people would want to put limitations on it. It is a major disadvantage to left-handed batters. There is some precedent in other sports about being lined up in certain positions in football or you can't just guard the paint in basketball.
And put lines between the bases that they have to stay on.astros4545 said:Give left handed batters the choice to run to third base after hitting the ballFarmer1906 said:
