Questions to ponder:
  • Will the Stros make a legit run at re-signing Correa?
  • Will the Stros sign a big ace to pair with LMJ?
  • Does JV get a qualifying offer?
  • Who in the Stros farm system gets a shot at the big leagues?

I am curious how the work stoppage is going to impact Free Agency.

Specifically for the Astros, if service time until free agency is reduced and Yordan and Tucker would be come free agents sooner. How would you prioritize them vs Carlos?

I think CC is gone. I don't think the Astros will give him the years he wants.

With that in mind, I think they give Pena and Leon a shot.

I like Chas, but I'd like to see them move him for pitching help, most likely minor leaguers. That way CF is limited to a competition between Meyers, Siri and Leon.

SP should be priority. Thor should be an option. JV should get a QO.

Start working Yordan at 1st. Let Bregs heal. Sign ace.

Give CC what you can afford for 6 years. He doesn't take it let him walk and offer next best SS free agent.

I think those are the 8 most logical landing spots Imo but I think Philly is going to be the choice personally

Question is will signing him set you up for 6 years of not making playoffs in 2 years when we'd lose everyone else?

Looks good to me.

I'd be careful on declaring the signing of an ace. I think we'll have a high-quality guy added to the rotation.

I'll add Solomon to the farm system call ups.

If luxury tax drops down to 180 M as rumored then we should have about 35 M to play with. I think we can mix and match around 12 M to sign some bullpen arms (Graveman, Raley, Garcia, new FA) then use a larger portion (15-20M) to go after a starting pitcher. I would start by offering Thor, Ray, and maybe even Stroman the Lance contact of 5 years/85 M. It won't land Thor, but it might be enough for Ray or Stroman.
