Hey, the team quit first.
Such a lazy take.

This is baseball. You don't always play well every single time you take the field. Sometimes, the other team is just better that day. It doesn't mean that they quit.
I don't expect a team to win every game, but I do expect them to give their best, and if they come up short, so be it.

This team isn't giving its best.

I agree. I sometimes think the team with 3 straight home games has the advantage. How I felt in 2017. And was definitely worried about it in 2019

My thinking is, who cares about Lefty Righty Lefty Righty when there's clearly a Righty that cannot hit his way out of a paper bag right now

Altuve
Brantley
Correa
Tucker
Yordan
Yuli
Bregman
Maldy

How you know that they're not giving their best? Just because the results aren't what you think it should be doesn't mean that they're not giving maximum effort.

They work their asses off to get to the World Series and then all of a sudden, you think they just decided to not give a sht? It doesn't make any sense.

They 100% do. Having 4 home games is great but 3 straight is extremely valuable. Especially when those 3 games typically occur on weekends.

Wow. Four games in and the astros have had basically one inning. Gotta find some pitches to hit and soon. These Braves pitchers have been good but can they really keep this up ?

In baseball it is crap. The team who doesn't have home field advantage basically has home field advantage.

I don't think they aren't trying their best. They got **** on with the weather and no one cares they aren't getting batting practice because we're the cHeAtErS. If the situation was reversed, the Braves would be raising hell.

I think Alvarez and Correa are getting choked out because Bregman is **** right now. Let Bregman play, fine, but for goodness sakes don't let him bat 3rd. Just move everyone else up one. It doesn't help Yuli is getting IBB'd to get to our second black hole and now Castro's out.

Then don't get cute with pitchers in the ****ty NL batting rules. The number of pitchers used tonight and in odd situations are going to bite us in the ass tomorrow. Should have been Grienke until his arm fell off, Odo, maybe a lefty depending on the top of the order, then 8th & 9th. Now we've got to regroup on an elimination game with the same ****ty batting rules.

Bregman and Yordan are combined 2 for 25. Maldonado has 2 hits, ffs.

Throw in Correa's 2 for 14, and that's a pretty lousy middle of the lineup.

Second WS game ZG has pitched lights out (tonight and game 7 2019) and no W to show. He showed us the Hall of Famer that he is. He could get us 6 outs in game 7.

Should really be 2-2-1-1-1 but I guess MLB doesn't want to stretch it out?

I mean, you basically need 4 wins and it's very likely to go to at least 5 games. But in the 5 game series you have a huge advantage being the "away" team, especially if you can take 1 away. Because then you have three straight home games.

It's a terrible format.

Baseball gods frown on taking him out too early. It's a cursed move

I personally think 2-3-2 makes the most sense. If you win your first two at home, all you need is 1 on the road to take control. Baseball is always played in 2 to 3 game series. 2-2-1-1-1 would be ridiculous

3-2-1-1

I'd take that format as well, with the last game being played away

That seems like a better "home field" advantage format

He plays better in the World Series. Pretty rare thing on this team.

I saw someone suggest 3-3-1 (home away home) and that seems like it would work with the same travel days. Only downside is that the home team would almost never clinch on their own field unless they went full 7.

Can't do anything about Maldonado with Castro out. I'd move Bergman outta 3 hole in a heartbeat. Bregman appears to have putt on 20lbs not sure if it's related to his injury but his confidence has been lacking and his movement fielding has been impacted

Take his horrible 2021 postseason out of the discussion. Here's Bregman's OPS by year:

2016: .791 (rookie season)
2017: .827
2018: .926 (all star)
2019: 1.015 (2nd in AL MVP voting)
2020: .801
2021: .777
Bregman was bad in the WS in 2019 also. Tampa's pitching staff put the brakes on our offense in the ALCS. We managed to pull it out, with help from Glasnow tipping pitches, but Bregman hasn't been the same hitter since that series.

I keep waiting for him to break out of it, but he's just not the same hitter. He has no confidence at all, he gives away strike one every AB now because he almost never swings at the first pitch, and teams have noticed.
it's kind of something nobody wants to talk about...

Bregman is a charter member of the 1819 club (that we'll break down in the offseason).

guys that were superstars in 2018 and/or 2019...and now 2 years later are shells of their former selves.

the likes of Bellinger, Yelich, Lindor, Rendon, Jose Ramirez, et al

go figure
. Its hard to tell right now. Is 2020 even a good gauge? The scandal, covid, just a crappy season all the way around. This year is out because of the injury. Next yeR will be huge in determining the actual value of his extension and was it done prematurely.

So here are my thoughts on tonight and whatever else happens. I am not going to watch tonight. If the Astros push it to a game 6, then great, if not well I don't want to hear the Atlanta fans going nuts.

Here is something we need to keep in perspective though: We are IN the world series. not watching it like in 2018, or 2020. I am happy we are here, even if the outcome isn't want we want. I know we all wanted a 4 game sweep and to be done with it, but life doesn't work that way. What I am trying to say is that whatever happens tonight just enjoy the fact that we are here, and remember there are 28 other teams that were trying to get here as well.

Just need three wins. This team is capable of that but the offense will have to crank it up for sure.

Go get 1 tonight.

As a Rangers fan, I find this interesting, having to endure 100 loss seasons and not going hard after free agents with a new park. Meanwhile, Houston loses Morton, McCullers, Cole, Verlander, and Springer, and I forgot who else, and keeps it going with 2nd tier Latin American starting pitchers. I think at some point you always gut the farm system to keep the window open a little longer, but the fact that Houston has kept winning even after Verlander went down is pretty impressive, and a credit to the scouting and farm system.

It's just a personal preference. Like I have said in posts before, I do NOT want to watch the braves fans win it in Atlanta. Then again if the Astros win tonight I will think its because I didn't watch so I wont watch again lol

Really want to get him a ring, especially after his great outing in G7 of 19 that was blown by the bullpen.

Baseball is almost always played in 3 game series, not 2.

Why should the team with the worse record be the only one to get 2 at home in a row?

It's dumb.

I think it comes down to today. They've got all the momentum, even a veteran heavy Astros team will be questioning things, and it's in their park.

But if we find a way to win tonight, I think this thing is more like a coin flip.
