The only questionable decision was pulling Greinke to bat Gonzalez. At least hit Diaz or Siri.

I think he knew Graveman wouldn't pitch and tried to get to the 8th for Pressly and the top of the order.

Javier messed that plan up.

Well, this is why I said to leave Greinke for another inning.

Pulling him early caused us to go to someone like Javier rather than leaving him as an option for long relief tomorrow.

Now Pressly is pitching 30 when we play again tomorrow...this is insanity. Probably the first game Dusty has truly screwed up big time.


But you don't know what happens. This year the games have turned fast on Greinke. It could have been two singles and a 3-run blast on 3 pitches with Greinke.

It would have been a gamble to leave Greinke in just as much as it was a gamble to remove him.

If it's me, I'm gambling with Greinke, but let's at least not act like he would have automatically put up a zero if he went back out there.

As someone who has capped on Dusty's moves all season in this thread... I can't complain about any of the moves he has made tonight.

In fact he's done a good job all playoffs IMO.


He's done a good job until tonight. The problem with Dusty is there's always been just that one game. He's got 25+ years of history to back it up.

Typically yes, I'd agree with you. Sometimes you tip your cap (like that catch on Altuve's near HR to left).

But they're not pitching lights out. We had them in multiple jams and they didn't pitch out of them, we bailed them out with trash swings on balls in the middle of the zone. We don't have a consistent approach to their pitchers or even to hitting in general. Our best hitters have choked. It hasn't been shut-down stuff. They've been extremely hittable
Yep, Minter and Matzek are the only impressive ones so far.
