Taking advantage of the other team tipping pitches is 100% within the rules. You have to be aware if you are tipping pitches. Looks like the Astros may have it figured out now
I see your point, but the Sox have also spit on some really, really good breaking balls just out of the zone with 2 strikes. Then, of course, it leads to nervous pitching.n_touch said:
Not gonna jump to that just yet. Go back and watch a lot of the Astros pitching in games 2/3 and some ven last night. They will get 2 strikes on them and just start pitching out of the zone. A lot of the pitches were not even close to starting in the zone. Once that happens they get into a favorable 3-2 counts and give up hits/walks and then get traffic. Traffic on the bases and they start pitching nervously because of the walk. Its a bad cycle that our pitchers are in and that all comes down to the approach they are taking. If it was one pitcher fine, but it is multiple pitchers over multiple games and that needs to be addressed.

Luis 0pGarcia in the pen?
Pressley has 1
Maton could go 1
Yimi available?
Who is actually available?!?!?

Same thing happened for the Astros last night. Got a little pressure on Eovoldi and the defense and look what happened in the 9th.
We're in it to win it.#ForTheH x @Academy pic.twitter.com/oLG5F1gOn7

You never know in October. You never know when That Moment will arrive
Only 2 HR in postseason history truly compare with Cody Bellinger's.
Jim Leyritz, Gm 4, 1996
Bernie Carbo, Gm 6, 1975
That & lots more in Weird & Wildhttps://t.co/RnL1YAsWnu
Yep. If we get a lead, all hands on deck except Javier and maaaaaybe Graveman. But Graveman only threw 30 pitches last night and hadn't thrown in a few days before that. Same strategy as last night. All hands on deck. Quick hooks if one of our guys struggles with command or if it looks like Boston has a beat on him.CFTXAG10 said:

Their bats cooled WAY off last night. Maybe they've just been abnormally hot at the right time and now are regressing to the mean. Same with the Astros, just in the other direction (finally and fortunately).Bonnettecj1 said:
I'm entirely too lazy to go back and see what was posted during the game, but did anyone notice that Maldonado did not have his fingers painted/taped behind home plate last night?
Also, as an Astros fan, I have no room to talk when it comes to sign stealing/tipped pitches. HOWEVER, there is something rotten in Denmark when it comes to the Red Sox and how well they've hit in the postseason.
In the regular season the Astros were the best hitting team with an average of .267 and a team OPS of .783. Red Sox were 3rd with a .261 average and .782 OPS. There's your baseline for the postseason. There should be offense in this series.
This postseason the BoSox are batting .300 with a .910 OPS. That is absolutely absurd and clearly 1st in the MLB. Astros are trailing with a .277 average and .788 OPS.
There is no way both the Astros and Rays have tipped their pitches that much.
This is why Machete is in the game. Watch him fool Martinez acting like the ball will be down the middle then immediately catches the slider. https://t.co/rxZYeSHfYx

Boston's starting 9's hitting stats. Again, absurd. 1---ONE---with an OPS lower than .700

Read my post. I said that I have no room to talk at all. But, we can not say that something is off?
I watched baseball all season. Yes, they raked. Not to this level, though. Their average and OPS were not in the same stratosphere as they have been this postseason.
Do I think there's sign stealing? I have no idea. But, do I think that 2 teams (Astros and Rays) are tipping pitches to the level of making the Sox look like a MLB team playing against a AAA team? I don't think so.

Framber
Didn't pitch Last night
Stanek
Yimi
Taylor
Pitched Last night but not Game 3
Pressley
Graveman (likely threw too many pitches to comeback)
Pitched in both Games 3 and 4
Raley (thrown 43 pitches)
Maton (thrown 23 pitches)
For sure unavailable:
Javier
Urquidy
Greinke
Emergency:
Garcia
Odorizzi
If only I had seen McTaggart's chart before doing this myself

Last night's Red Sox production was more in line with what I was expecting this series - Xander hits well, rest of lineup not so much, or hit or miss.
The video game nature of games 2 and 3 was a bit abnormal, to say the least.

If Framber doesn't have it, make sure Yimi is ready from the jump. Garcia needs to start his warm up as well so he can go in to start the next inning.
Can't be "injured" and get another free 15 min to get loose.
